Not a horror fan. I’m a fan of Halloween. I did not know that spook (and all its iterations if I am reading correctly) became a slur. I associated it with ghosts etc and at some point spycraft. I called October Spooky Season or used the word as an alt to scary because scary didn’t fit. Now I know.

This is from the Lightsaber Workshop line where you put different pieces together. This was a core set for Duty and Resolve. I’m happy with it. I’d be happy regardless. I’m only a little sad that there won’t be anymore Star Wars pieces from Rocklove. I do look forward to seeing what comes next.

Rocklove ended their licensing agreement with Disney last month and had a mystery box blowout sale for a day to reduce stock before pulling pieces from the site on the 29th of September. I wasn’t fast enough to get a 3 box bundle but I did get 1 box from the Star Wars collection.

This bin was supposed to carry all the merchandise but I clearly failed to tetris it all into it. (No I won’t get a taller one to accommodate it. This shit is heavy for just me to carry.) My hopeful goal is three totes, two tables, one chair, and my canopy. Oh and the box with the tent weights.

Think I need to get a second tote/bin. Actually what I need to do is get two more of these to be properly stackable and give me enough room to carry all my stuff for events. I just realized this last week I’m not really a sheen person. Or I suppose more to the point I don’t necessarily mind sheen but it can’t be so extreme that I don’t see the actual ink color beneath it.

My partner told me the other day that he can’t shop for gifts for me when it comes to hobbies. He said that if he catches me at the very beginning he feels that he can safely get stuff but finds that I dive deep really fast. He feels his passing knowledge isn’t enough to know what to get.

All the fountain pens I inked up in September are still inked up. Had to ink up three additional pens. Went all wearingeul with these three for reasons. Couldn’t resist putting a bright pink in a completely black pen. And the other two were pre-determined by purchases specific to them. #oct #ink

It has three elastics running on the inside for multiple books of A5 size. Or just one big A5 I suppose. It will be interesting to see which of my A5 notebooks will end up in it when I do end up using it.

I think it appealed to my pirate side. I waited for a friend to decide if they wanted to get it before grabbing it for myself. The black leather journal cover was made at the show after I picked all the things out by Lanena Lynn. It is actually my first tri-fold.

And finally, the last part (4!) of my Dallas Pen Show haul I’m sharing. And it’s not fountain pens! I picked up a couple of journal covers. Don’t ask me why. I have plenty on my shelf waiting to be used. I saw the octopus cover at the Blackwater Craftworks table and was immediately drawn to it.

Also a thing that helped a lot of lefty writers was the advancement in ink technology - it dries much faster than it did back when I learned to write with a fountain pen in grade school.

9 of the bottles are shimmer inks. I’m going to be all sparkly for quite a while. The only ink I didn’t take a picture of was the Monteverde 2026 Dallas Show Ink. It was free if you managed to show up at the Yaffa table and showed a coupon AND they still had bottles available. It’s a shimmer blue.

(Bart had it in his pen that he let me try.) White Nights was picked up because it’s practically a perfect match for the iridescent pearl color of two of my Kaweco pens, and Elf of the rose is… pink. Like my hair used to be pink.

The Gentleman Stationer ink was more of an impulse purchase. I didn’t see anyone carrying Tono & Lims at the show, but I could have missed it. As for the Wearingeul… I picked up Great Sage because it looks and writes beautifully in the Zodiac fountain pen I purchased.

The moment I saw Stationer’s Emporiums exclusive ink I had to get it. I was literally like “here’s my card.” And then I realized they had kitty ink pot samples and I’ve been wanting to try the brand for ages now. The bottle with the bear head is part of the Rockstar Collection I picked up.

The only ones I really planned on getting were the Penultimate Inks. Titanium, the brilliant mind behind the brand, made the DPS their first Pen Show to vend at. They were absolutely amazing to to talk to and even hang out with (they stopped by the Ink Crawl and we geeked out the entire time)

As a lefty that writes with a fountain pen everyday without issue, I think you can possibly re-evaluate that reality. You “might” retrain yourself on how you hold your writing tools (overhand hook?) though I see someone below has shared links to some great resources that can handle that too.

one is called earth bound. Patrick also includes 2 vintage nibs with each holder. He told me where they were from but I didn’t write it down anywhere. I’m sure the pen models are nice. I have yet to see a combo of materials that appeal to me. The Jolly Roger Pixies were the first and the moment I saw the all black version it was the only one I would potentially pick up. I think it was pure luck I saw it at the table.

was the Kaweco DIY Sport. It’s the Sport that you actually build yourself. It’s a whole experience. The only part that was truly customizable was choosing the nib (mine is medium) as the only body material/color on offer is glow in the dark and as far as understand it’s exclusive to the whole DIY
