A key moment from our evidence to MPs on the UK Child Poverty Strategy: Too often, the debate focuses on the cost of tackling poverty. But as @charischittick.bsky.social highlighted, "Inaction on poverty is more expensive than prevention."

Energy shouldn't be a luxury. Today's energy price cap increase will push 1,000s deeper into debt, forcing many to choose between heat, light and other essentials. We can’t go on like this.

The #ScottishBudget is a critical opportunity for politicians to rebuild trust by acting on the issues that matter most to people in Scotland, like child poverty. We are calling for the Scottish Government to build on what’s already working by increasing the Scottish Child Payment to £40 a week.

Today's #ProgrammeForGovernment falls short of what we need to create a #WellbeingEconomy in Scotland where everyone can thrive. Read our full response: weallscotland.org/post/pfg2025
It is deeply concerning to see once again no mention of the Wellbeing Economy in the Programme for Government. We need to move away from short term thinking and sticking plaster solutions. We need an economy that will improve the wellbeing of people in Scotland, now and in the future.

It’s deeply concerning to hear of cuts to social security ahead of today’s Spring Statement. Social security should be a safety net and spring board to support all of us when we need it. Right now it’s failing. We need an economy that is centred on justice and compassion where everyone can thrive.

🚨 Today’s announcement is alarming. It’s true, our social security system needs an urgent update. But cutting disability benefits is not the way to fix it. Disabled people are already three times more likely to face hunger. Huge cuts risk pushing more people to food banks.

The proposed cuts to disability benefits are unacceptable and immoral, full stop. And if the big cuts come from PIP, the impact on the SG's budget will also be massive. The next SG will have to cut disability payments too or fill the gap and find the money on a fixed budget.

WEAll Scotland calls on MSPs to be bold in National Outcomes debate
In a just and compassionate Scotland, everyone should have the opportunity to thrive. But right now people are struggling as we face increasing financial and environmental crises. As the Scottish Parliament debates the National Outcomes today, we urge MSPs to be bold. The National Performance Framework and National Outcomes, have the potential to be transformational. Creating a Scotland where communities flourish, where we tackle poverty by redistributing wealth fairly and we take urgent action

Imagine a Scotland where every child grows up free from poverty. Where our hospitals/schools have the resources to care for all, where we’re tackling the climate crisis head-on. A fairer tax system can help make it a reality. That's why we're backing #TaxJusticeScotland
Tax Justice Scotland. Fairer taxes can help combat deep inequalities in Scotland and help deliver a healthier, more inclusive economy.

At a time when energy prices are already unaffordable for many and household budgets are under increasing strain, many breaking, this is very concerning. It is unacceptable that right now people are struggling to afford the essentials just to survive. We need to see systemic, lasting change.
