Like, imagine we showed up at our jobs having failed on many tasks & broke promises throughout the past couple years, but "promised to do better" so were kept on the payroll? Some of these politicians are in need of performance review plans 🥲 (I swear this isn't about the BCNDP or anything 😉)

It's weird that politicians running for re-election are able to include new promises as part of their campaign. Similar to a work performance review, shouldn't we judge them on past performance? ...if people show you who they are, believe them

Vancouver friends! Day 3 of advance voting for the civic election is today (Saturday, 8am-8pm). I share my recommendations in the piece below. Vancouver’s historic climate leadership hangs in the balance in this municipal election sethdklein.substack.com/p/vancouvers...

Vancouver’s historic climate leadership hangs in the balance in this municipal election
If incumbent mayor Ken Sim and his ABC party are re-elected this month, virtually everything won on climate to-date will be toast. My election advice...

I'm on hold with the BC vaccine hotline & the recording says they're experiencing very high call volumes because of the start of flu season Isn't that exactly when people are expected to call about flu vaccines? Shouldn't this volume be anticipated?

I love this for you 😅 I spent a night in a Tokyo jail. But it was because I lost all my belongings including my phone & passport the day before I moved back to Canada, and when I reported them missing, they felt bad for me & put me up for free in my own cell for the nite (true story!)

It's that time of year: lots of people will be sick, and many won't know what sickness it is. It's a good idea to get tested, but even if you don't know what it is, *please* stay home as much as possible, get plenty of rest to help yourself recover, and wear masks if you have to go out while sick!

The CDC just posted this today. Do you see anything missing? Washing our hands will not meaningfully protect us from airborne viruses like Covid. We need respirator MASKS for that!
CDC graphic posted on Instagram with caption "Actions you can take to protect yourself and others from respiratory illnesses

-washing your hands frequently
-cover coughs and sneezes
-avoid touching your face
-regularly disinfect surfaces
-stay up to date with vaccines
-open windows or use air filters

No, for Covid, every season is 'respiratory illness' season. Vaccines should have been available in the summer, when waves often begin, not after cases have ramped up. Still get vaxxed when you can, but people should have had access sooner! www.ctvnews.ca/vancouver/ar...

Reminder that terms like "sociopath," "psychopath," "idiot" and "crazy" are ableist because they weaponize mental illness & neurocognitive differences & make them into punchlines. If you're a good writer, you can find better words to use than this.
