Why does the UK import 55% of its road diesel? Refinery closures and a historic bias towards petrol leave a supply gap. Government is under pressure to protect viable refineries, cut fuel duty, diversify supplies, strengthen reserves, and cut diesel dependence. Releasing stocks only buys time.
