If you are in New York, the MET Cloisters is displaying this huge Be’ena’a (Zapotec) sculpture of Tzinacantecuhtli, the Bat Lord. In Mesoamerican myth, bats were believed to be able to travel both heavenly and earthly realms.
This sculpture is on loan from the Museo del Templo Mayor until October 18
