It's always a good day to share what active projects you're working on with @cgossagent.bsky.social at FinePrint Lit - and today is certainly no exception to that rule! 👀

A haphazard splash of pink acrylic paint against a black background. Text in foreground that says: “Two women of different eras, connected by the art that one creates and the other restores, reach across time to save one another from falling prey to a manor destined to sink into the sea, consumed by the sands of time.”

Several vertical splashes of acrylic paint in various pink hues against a black background, working as bullet points. White lettering in front of each bullet point reads: memory scrambles, artist colony, family mystery, sand dunes, generational trauma, time slip 1899/1999, painter and restorer, the eggs are weird, mild body horror, thin places, hysteria, insomnia, tragedy, queerness.”

I will resort back to being open the first week of the month in September. But to make up for being closed all summer, I’ll be open to queries all of May. I’ll open May 1 until May 31. Then I will be closed until September.

#amquerying authors:: I will be doing something different in May. Due to my full time job demanding more of me in the summer, I will not be able to open between June-August.

I’ve been trying to put to words how I feel and Helen did it perfectly. Authors, please remember agents are human too. I know it’s hard out there, but vicious words will not make it any easier.

Quickest way to get blocked by every agent is to message one of our friends calling them names and threatening them because they rejected you. This is an industry where you will get rejected by someone. Agents get rejections as well. But if you lash out you only hurt yourself.

The take away here is that no AI and also… be sure your pages are the BEST they can be. That means: 1. Edit, edit, edit 2. Have other eyes on the project and query package 3. Take space to come back at a later time with fresh eyes. 4. Edit

Hang in there folks, querying is SO hard BUT agents truly are doing their best with the situation we have. Limited time to work, inundated with queries and a want/need to reply to them all. We’re doing what we can within our limits. It may not be the ideal scenario, but we’re trying. 🫶

120

Christine Goss- Closed to Queries @cgossagent.bsky.social · 31/01/2025

But agents are likely not using AI in their passes and instead you’re getting a pass that is form because of their query load. An agent/human did view your query. Unless you get an auto notification that you could not submit due to not filling the qualifications they previously set in QM.

Christine Goss- Closed to Queries @cgossagent.bsky.social · 31/01/2025

While I try to give personalized feedback in my passes I know I am in the minority and honestly, less and less do I feel it’s feasible to keep doing so. I now resort to form passes that have specific areas it focuses on. Pacing, line level, word count etc.

100

Christine Goss- Closed to Queries @cgossagent.bsky.social · 31/01/2025

When an agent gives the same type of response again and again it means that it is a “form” pass. Why do agents do this? Because agents get hundreds (if not thousands) of queries and cannot specifically call out their reason for the pass for each query. (One agent I know in one month received 1k)

110

Christine Goss- Closed to Queries @cgossagent.bsky.social · 31/01/2025

I cannot speak to all agents but most do not support the use of AI in publishing and likely are not using AI for their passes.

Christine Goss- Closed to Queries @cgossagent.bsky.social · 31/01/2025

I recently saw a comment on a Substack from an author that said they were concerned their query wasn’t viewed by a human because all their responses were from AI. I want to clarify this
