you pop off later once you no longer break swords and thauma spells make the leap from terrible to great you can use fire breath to burn resists, sword is typically the best damage type but it can be worth burning major foes, especially golems, shadows, as well as packs of goatmen and vampires

the class/race combo: keep permanent uptime on your sustains by constantly gaining XP -> MP zeal will carry you through skeleton fights, claymore+heals can help you survive mobs (spider/crab cage, algernon) claymore sparingly until you are a swordmaster try to sustain stoneform for extra AC

salamander's fervour is mostly advantageous, with you gaining a pretty sizable MP bump every time you gain XP, but as with most races with unconventional MP it likely hurts blaster casters the most this opinion was made in singleplayer, though, so as with vampires, your multiplayer mileage may vary

paladin: kind of a powercrept late bloomer class, starting with excellent gear you can take to the end (claymore, zeal, sanctuary) and questionable consumables (80hp worth of holy water) closest comparables IMO are cleric, ninja, hunter

I've only ever seen it bought as discount ricochet for Graves and aim assist for Vyper and Paige. Also to bypass metal skin but I think that was bug abuse. I've tries buying it as a weird little farming item for m1 heroes, but the m1 heroes I play typically farm better with abilities.
