On March 26, 2000, the song Blame Canada from South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut was nominated for Best Original Song at the Oscars. But that night something also debuted that became an immediate hit. The I Am Canadian Rant. This is the story. 🧵 1/10

Dr. Ziegler reminds us that Jesus is well aware of our tendency to compare ourselves to others. However, God doesn’t see the world through the lens of competition and meritocracy, but by grace. Jesus came down to give us God’s gift, God’s treasure: Himself. www.lhm.org/lutheranhour...

‘Never mistake our generosity for weakness’: Chrétien to Americans

YouTube video by CBC News

CFLange @cflange.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

In the preamble he described how the population of Gander almost doubled, hosting the stranded passengers bound to the US. He described how Canadians felt: “Our closest friend was attacked. We said it was an attack on us too. And we fought back side by side.”

CFLange @cflange.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

Twenty five years later, he had another message to Americans, still speaking as a friend, no longer as a politician, but Jean Chrétien needed to tell some truths. As he said, “friends need to be honest with each other.”

CFLange @cflange.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

In 2001, he spoke 3 days after the attack: “Do not despair; you are not alone; we are with you. Mr. Ambassador, as your fellow Americans grieve and rebuild, there will be no silence from Canada. Our friendship has no limit.” (www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/chr...)

I noticed that you edited the original billboard. "Retaliatory" tariffs are a proportional response to their tariff attack. And we will continue to buy less of those American products, so the new "tax" we will be paying is minimal. You don't need to like the PM to root for Canada.
