Anything that is fully generative AI trying to pass itself off as animation is not animation, nor even a film. I will never take it seriously since all it does is steal and I'd rather see real art come from real people than thieving machines.

Alrhough its odd that michael bay shares a lot of the same traits as Shia (being an asshole) and yet spielberg wants him for some reason. You would think bay's MAGA and epstein association would turn off spielberg who had no trouble cutting ties with john Landis at one point for manslaughter

Theres also the possibility (miniscule as it might be) that disney could just put this out on disneyplus without a theatrical release aka luca and turning red

I’ve been having a great day on my birthday, and one thing that’s been on my mind that, when looking back at it, I went through a personal turning point that has changed my life for the better.
I’ve been having a great day on my birthday, and one thing that’s been on my mind that, when looking back at it, I went through a personal turning point that has changed my life for the better. At this point, it’s been about a month and a half since I started releasing the videos of my mini-series, I’ve Had Enough of the Cartoon Community [and Fandoms]. And after moving on from creating that, I think it’s one of my best works for a unique reason.

I don’t mean that it’s one of my biggest videos that went on to be super viral, it’s mostly just a giant vlog explaining the problems with the fandom, and I know it had the odd complaints from the kind of problematic people whom the series calls out. Even when I made it, I didn’t expect it to change the world, or improve the cartoon community’s behavior. In fact, I’m expecting the group to get much worse and maybe have some of the notable influencers get that Alex Meyers-style cancellation for taking their behavior too far before anything can get better from them. But the reason why I call this one of my best is for a personal reason. It allowed me to let go of the fandom’s toxicity. I was finally able to let out all those issues I’ve had with how the community on social media has been acting, put that in a video so that they are addressed and free up all that space in my head regarding the subject so that it can be replaced with something more pleasant and loving. At minimum, I’ve done my part to of calling out the problems with the community, which makes it so much easier to drop that anger from whatever toxicity that’s spreading in the animation world, or not care to engage with it, especially when they’re almost all just outrage over things that don’t matter or, at most, are subjective. I can now watch their calamity and just say “This is what I talked about in the mini-series”, and don’t have to hold onto it as if no one’s doing anything about it. Basically, they’re some of my best videos for my mental health.I knew that those videos were a major risk to make, especially when some could argue that I’m just calling out what’s supposed to be “my” audience and shame them for their bad behavior. There was that chance that I’d end up as the next ILoveKimPossibleALot and sabotage my whole YouTube career if I made a few missteps in it. But despite a few short-term angry responses from others (which to be fair, is expected with these types of videos), it actually worked out in the long run and my channel’s been performing better than it has in quite a while. And what’s better, I’ve been finding more confidence and more joy in making my latest batch of reviews and videos, treating it like a hobby where I can express my love for animation my own way. In a way, that mini-series worked out in more ways than I expected.

But after all that, there was one more thing I had to do to find closure to this chapter. A silly little thing, but a true separation between me and the cartoon community on social media so that I can accept and love myself for who I am…I rewatched Disney’s Wish. And after everything that happened since I gave it a positive review on its initial release, I still had a very nice time, and it was such a freeing experience to not feel judged by anyone for it. I no longer had to worry about having an “unpopular take”, what others think about the movie, or people judging me for enjoying it and saying things like “I’m not critical enough towards Disney’s animated films” as if that’s a real problem that’s somehow harming others. I can fully cut myself from all that so that I can stay true to who I am and how I feel when watching the movie where I can genuinely have fun seeing the characters like Asha and Star, sing the songs as they play, notice the homages to Disney’s legacy and admire the craftsmanship of the animation. Sure, I can see how some parts are not for everyone, but it was a moment where nothing else mattered.

Films that really do have no marketing are films like under the boardwalk where it barely got a theatrical release at all and had very little advertising. For forgotten island, I saw the trailer attached to most family films and saw a ton of ads on Facebook and instagram

Considering everything that's been going on so far this week, this is a good reminder that you don't have to engage with everything. Sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself is to disconnect and make sure you're okay before going back to social media to see what's going on.

Parents do often pay for the tickets and on occassion, they may choose a film for themselves over taking the kids. And there's so many options this weekend.

Im pretty confident it won't be getting a nomination for best animated feature. Even without david ellison and lasseter, I heard from people who read the original draft that it wasn't nearly as good as the films he later wrote and the film seems to not change much from the draft

Just like using Forgotten Island to hate on Disney, using Hexed to attack Forgotten Island is equally as toxic and harmful to both sides. Again, this is why we need to be more aware of our behavior and not just focus on the targets because this is what makes animation discourses unbearable.

Saying that Forgotten Island deserves to flop at the box office just to spite those who makes clickbait “Disney bad, DreamWorks good” videos isn’t the win you think it is.
Oh but I thought- but but the 100% rating- but but but they ended Disney! "giggles*

Everyone go see Disney's #Hexed on November 25th! It will be better than and outsell Forgotten Flopland

THREAD: So… Ray Gunn. I watched the trailer and I think it looks pretty good. I love the cast and sci-fi noir aesthetics, plus I’m glad Brad Bird finally got to make his passion project. But there are a bunch of red flags that keep me away from being hyped and instead more cautiously intrigued.
