also, the older sprite work had so much personality while working with so little. why is the GBA warrior a silly guy who rotates at 90 mph when he gets a crit? why does the knight use his chest-plate as a shield? idk but it was more interesting than lovingly rendered feet

yes!! it felt like they were having their own little plot, and you could care about it if you wanted to, but it wasn't trying so damn hard. they also felt more like people? i can't do the one-personality-trait thing they do now.
