Making a note in case I ever need to go to Mobile for something I'm personally offended they call this gumbo when it seems more like a shrimp & grits but subbing Conecuh for shrimp. But give it to me

Oh I have no doubt about that! 😂

I could go with shell-less, but the feeders are getting mobbed by sparrows so I'll probably use up the seed I have and then switch to safflower only like I did in Monroe to avoid squirrels (haven't seen squirrels here yet, weirdly)

Cathy Newman ⚜️🐘 @cenewman0.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

I understand why Carolina chickadees come to the hanging feeder, grab 1 seed, fly off to crack & eat it, come back, grab another seed, ... But it just seems like such a waste of energy 😂 Wish they'd find the platform feeder nearby, where they could dine in instead of grabbing takeout

Yeah having been on the other side before with these Bama-Georgia games, it's just not fun when it isn't a clean win.

I'm not usually on the conspiracy train (and I'm still not) but it was so bad

I didn't even need to check the score, just came on here to your posts to see if I need to set up my second screen and turn on this game

110

Cathy Newman ⚜️🐘 @cenewman0.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

It is for sure not red beans & rice in any universe, but it sounds amazing and I would absolutely eat it 😂

Cathy Newman ⚜️🐘 @cenewman0.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

Thought he was gone because it's so quiet but he's still hanging in there. All good here, didn't lose power or anything. From NWS account, winds were gusting around 4am but I slept straight through it 😂 My potted majesty palm out front fell over but that's the only evidence lol

Cathy Newman ⚜️🐘 @cenewman0.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

Woke up at 7am and it's pretty much already over lol. All good here, just some much needed rain! South & SE AL got hit hard though, yeah :(

Every now and then, after yet another commute weaving around multitudes of aggressively slow Bham motorists, I miss the lethal chaos of Baton Rouge roads

I feel I'm a better driver now after learning to predict all the dumb shit BR drivers are about to suddenly pull with no warning

Although to be fair, my only tropical nonsense during those 12 years was Isaac (2012), Laura (2020), and Delta (also 2020). Countless tornado warnings though. Probably had more tor warnings in Monroe at 3AM than any other time in my life I swear

My mom, bless her, sent me a heads-up and a list of storm prep things to do as if I didn't have 12 years in Louisiana/S MS and haven't been watching this system for 5 days now

oof NB traffic into Bham is already bad

Look I know everyone would rather give a reference via phone call than write a letter of recommendation, but I am absolutely not one of those people. This has me extremely anxious like I'm going in for my own phone interview or something 😂

I bet upstairs probably has a bunch of stuff, but I do not want to have to ever go back to diagnostic breast imaging even though they too are so kind

I don't even remember what book it was but some random sci-fi book had an alien race of amphibious people and it was totally absurd but cool and I was rolling with it, until the author referred to them as "lizard-like" and immediately I was out

Cathy Newman ⚜️🐘 @cenewman0.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

lol the first review for these highly-rated rose pruning gloves on Amazon 😂🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ People get mad but honestly I don't even care here. Sounds like she just ran it through gpt to clean up the writing. All I need to know is did she like the gloves, so it's all the same to me

Last month I was in line behind a woman trying to fill Zepbound through Medicare bridge program but her doc had once again written the Rx the wrong way and both patient & pharmacist were so frustrated. Pharmacist said "I've been dealing with this exact problem all day"

Yay! I've had 2 biopsies already (one in each lol) just from imaging, both benign. Last year was my first clear screening MA and it was a relief!

If I get far enough into a book, I'll still leave a review with star(s). Or else I leave a star-free review saying why I DNFed it. A lot of times I don't though.

010

Cathy Newman ⚜️🐘 @cenewman0.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

I do this too! But if it's just that I'm bored, I also go to see if there are multiple people saying "The first 25% is a real slog but it's worth it"
