#CellMigration for #FluorescenceFriday 🧪🔬 If a metastatic #cancer cell is offered 2 paths it decides very fast, bc it does matter where it goes... OTOH, if a non-cancer #cell is offered 2 options it takes some time to explore and decide. More in the paper: www.nature.com/articles/s41...

#preprint for #CellMigration lovers We expanded our recently published model but now for cell moving a more complex network and spanning several junctions. Spoiler: immune cells explore better the network than slow moving cells. Full: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1... #scicomm #bskysci 🧪🔬

The figure shows a scheme of a branched cell migrating on a hexagonal network. Different cells in a simulation are shown in the network spanning 1-4 junctions. The bottom panels show macrophages with similar shapes to those of the simulation.

For #CellMigration lovers How do cells decide when facing a symmetric junction? The membrane oscillates exploring both directions until one arm wins. TLDR: this depends on the actin cytoskeleton & cancer cells decide faster than healthy cells #scicomm #bskysci 🧪🔬 Full www.nature.com/articles/s41...

The figure shows brain cancer cells migrating in a tissue ex vivo. This glioma cells move on top of blood vessels that presents branches.
The picture also shows cells migrating in vitro over micropatterns that mimic the same situation.
