Announcements on #TorontoTTC Line 5 trains still sound like R. F. Kennedy Jr., giving me a visceral reaction. Luckily you can't even hear half of it over the train noise. Probably they will never replace them, after spending all the money on mind blowing architecture

The current US regime and Stalinism comes to mind often. Political persecution, overtaking free press, rise of pseudo science, The Doctor's Plot conspiracy, the MAGA cult... and then I started reading Celeste Ng @pronounced-ing.bsky.social 'Our Missing Hearts", the dystopian outcome of it all

Every time I read about Maj. (Ret) Pete Hegseth firing another general or blocking the promotion of colonels to general, I think about Stalin's purge of the generals in the late 1930s. Russia almost lost to Hitler because of that.

Gen. Christopher T. Donahue’s vision for fighting future wars won him powerful supporters around the world. Could they save his career?

I think Tom Bombadil is symbolizing Switzerland, in his bucolic life, refusing to take a stand while there's a war against NAZguls. It's vital in the US now, when you hear "I'm not into politics" or "I'm not watching the news"

In 2014 we drove to New York to see the El Greco exhibition in MET. Sadly, it was so crowded, like sardines, I couldn't absorb the art. So in 2022 I got to sit and look at a few paintings, alone and comfortable
