I honestly don’t know how anyone uses those fandom wikis. Billion ads aside, the websites just straight up don’t work. It’s so frustrating trying to scroll down and have it *constantly* crash.

While I’m dusting off old PlayStations, I ought to boot up the PS3 while I have a chance too. Not sure there’s really anything I want to play on it, though. A round of Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds, I guess? I don’t have many PS3 games at all. I mostly used it for older games

I never understood why they swapped the X and O for cancel and confirm on PlayStation outside of Japan. Supposedly it’s because the maru/batsu meaning is only a Japanese thing, people say, but swapping it doesn’t mean anything outside of Japan either, right? I feel like we’d just have learned.

Okay so it turns out there’s a Madou Monogatari game on the Vita they called Sorcery Saga. 🤔 It came out on PC later, but as a console gamer, this might be something I’d want to try on Vita. Maybe. I’m amused to see I could get a brand new copy for $80 apparently, but I don’t need that.

Well well! While I lost all of my PSP and PS1 saves in my Vita when the memory card corrupted, apparently my actual Vita games’ saves were on the cloud this whole time. I redownloaded Hot Shots Golf WI and was surprised to see everything is as it was like 7(?) years ago. Nice!

With access to my PS Vita again, I can play one of my favorite golf games, Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee 2! Woo! Weird how no other game in the series has captured the same feeling for me.

It’s funny I went out of my way to buy a fancy voltage converter before moving, but the only thing I ever use it for is charging my 3DS because anything else I care about has a charger that can handle 100-240v. I might as well just get a 240v 3DS charger, but I gotta use this for *something*…

I’m having so much fun with Dungeon Dice Monsters on GBA. It’s overly complicated without a tutorial, but fortunately for me, I played the “real” game way back when, so I already understand the rules. Flawed in many ways, perhaps, but that’s not stopping me from enjoying it.

Finally finished DK64 for the first time! 🎉 It was fun! There are some annoying bananas to get, sure, but the game is extremely generous with how many you actually need at 100/201. I finished the game with 138 because I was having fun collecting them anyway.

I never actually finished Donkey Kong 64 as a kid, because Creepy Castle creeped me out. Now that I’m much older, I finally got through it. Not bad at all. In fact, it’s probably the best level in the game. Go figure. Just got the final boss left!

The more I think about it, the wilder it seems that they didn’t include the Touhou game in the Direct outside Japan. First I thought it was just my bias, but it’s a pretty big deal, isn’t it? Surely they could have afforded a little bit of time to it. It was by far the best announcement.

The NSO Classics being arranged as they are with varying box sizes instead of uniform icons is funny. I do appreciate the box art being shown, but it looks so strange. Not a real issue, but I do like how sleek the N64 selections look so far because everything fits neatly. NES is a total mess.

DK64 having widescreen support in 1999 was wild. I was always impressed by the foresight in Banjo-Tooie, but I didn’t know or forgot Rare did it even earlier too.

As with last time, I’m having fun with DK64 so far. I like the first two levels a lot. I almost 100% cleared Jungle Japes with DK and Diddy, but I’m missing 5 bananas with the latter… now’s when it gets annoying. :p

Looking forward to giving DK64 another try. I never finished it as a kid. I watched some retrospectives, and one observation stuck out to me: it all makes more sense if you view each level as five levels with the same theme stacked on top of each other. I’ll try to think of it that way.

I’ve been playing FFXIV almost daily for half a decade, but I’m finally kind of done for a bit. It’s not like I’m burnt out, it’s just there’s not much for me to do this patch cycle. I’ve accomplished pretty much everything I “really” want to do, so I just log in for my weekly alliance raid loot.

Pikmin 4’s main campaign was okay, but the postgame Olimar’s Shipwreck Tales? Now this is cool. It’s like a reimagining of Pikmin 1 with the new stuff. Collect 30 parts in only 15 days, using only the original three Pikmin (and the dog). No caves, just remixed outdoor levels. How fun.

Like some of the games are *fine*, but even the good ones are just okay, really. Like, you’ll survive if you don’t get to try Wario Land VB. My takeaway is, I’m glad I finally get to experience Jack Bros, but I’m also glad I didn’t drop a ton of money on it a few years ago.

I bought a Virtual Boy about a decade ago, enjoyed it for a month or two, and then it broke. Since then, I defended the console, thinking I had a fun time with it while it lasted. I still think it’s over-hated, but playing the games again on Switch, the novelty does wear off quickly…
