Finally figured out a good way to make nub tails. For the longest time I had been trying to shrink down the PETG base plates from my larger tails, but it turns out this simple TPU strap was all I needed. #3dprinting #furry

I've been working on a few projects since Furality Ultra. One of them was a surprise for my friend @chocsauerkraut.bsky.social I got 2 tail bases from @cekaycat.bsky.social, and I worked on his first. Here's some photos from start to finish! Thank you Cekay! #fursuit #tail

A 3D printed vulpine tail base from Cekay3D, duct taped and ready for patterning

I made a test pattern first out of cotton (white and gray) and a stretchy fabric that I had on hand (black). This let me determine how much seam allowance was needed.

The fur patterns were then cut out and pinned together ready for sewing. The whole process of sewing to me about a week by hand altogether.

It took a bit to wiggle the tail sleeve over the base, but thanks to TPU being able to be squishy and return to it's shape, I was able to get this tail finished for him!

Holy cow, sometimes it pays to experiment. I just switched my filament brand to Sunlu High Speed TPU and sped up my tail production by 3-4x. I've got it running flawlessly at 16mm^3/s 125mm/s, and I can probably go even higher. Crazy. #3dprinting

Finally mastered the art of printing at an angle for better layer direction strength. My tail belt loops were strong enough already, but we over-engineer in this household.
