The Brits are fighting back Massive increase in donations to RNLI, police dismissed for tasering an elderly man, we chucked out the NHS-dismantling Tories, voting tactically to keep Reform out. We're not complacent because we're battling billionaires, Putin & right wing media. But we're resisting.

I suspect that's Putin's plan. It was part of the Russian Empire which he's trying to re-establish along with the USSR

Yup, the other nations with public executions are North Korea, Afghanistan and Iran. Once unimaginable bedfellows for the USA.

I wonder if the BBC will give this Farage idiocy prominent exposure?

BBC Breakfast this morning - headlines about Labour Party conference entirely negative 'criticism around growth and visa reform'. Compare this to the positivity about the Reform conference.

Ditto. I can't afford an electric car but can a hybrid. Using a bicycle & my hybrid means I spend about £200 a year on petrol versus several thousand when I had a petrol car. Solar panels meant using electricity this summer without worrying. Only bribery explains anyone advocating fossil fuels.

I think the idea is to buy RNLI Christmad cards (boosting RNLI funds) then send them to Reform using their (ie Reform's) Freepost address. Google their latest one.

Cejay Leslie @cejayleslie2.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
Absolutely right. Why the harsh sentences handed out to those opposing fossil fuel companies and trying to save all our futures versus the pathetically little action taken against these masked thugs?

Ironically the flooding, caused by global warming/sea level rise, will be predominantly in those areas which see the most rabid support for Reform- the party allegedly linked to fossil fuel companies.

If they were environmental protesters trying to draw attention to the climate crisis, the police would have arrested them and they would be facing long prison sentences.

I'm not sure whether she feels safe enough to come forward. Reform thugs might well target her once her identity is made public.

They are simply deluded folk who 'call themselves Christians'. Their hate has nothing to do with the love your neighbour bit that is a key tenet of Christianity.

This morning the BBC is yet again promoting the tawdry, racist policies of Reform with the headline "Reform says it will prioritise British-born young workers for social housing". This despite a crowded news agenda. Time for a mass protest to the BBC and our MP (641 are not Reform).

Cejay Leslie @cejayleslie2.bsky.social · 15/08/2026
Maybe Reform paid the deposits of all the independents etc. They attracted 3,143 votes that could have gone to the Bin if it was a straight Farage v Binface election. Totals would have been 22,239 v 12,597 votes - this would have made the result even more humiliating for Farage.

I bet he's trying his best though....
A close-up photograph of a tiny baby otter named Steve gently nestled in a person’s cupped hands against a dark, blurred background.
Baked-in text reads: “Here is small otter. He is so small he’s probably still learning how to otter properly.”

New word: someone who is easily conned = a "clactonite".

Given that The Spectator costs at least £6.50 per issue or an annual subscription of £179.99, I very much doubt the ordinary people of Clacton can afford it.

Everytime I turned on BBC radio/TV last Tuesday they were promoting Farage giving full vent to his racism. Please can Lib Dem MPs persuade Labour colleagues to do something about the BBC. I should not have to choose between paying for Reform propaganda, watching no live TV, or being criminalised.
042
Cejay Leslie @cejayleslie2.bsky.social · 07/06/2026
Absolutely. and given Farage & Reform.'s disgusting racism, the BBC by promoting Farage is guilty of the very same racism. In no democracy should I face the options of being forced to support a racist agenda, or deprived of watching most TV, or being criminalised.

The BBC is owned by us- the licence payers - & yet there seems to be no way we can hold it to account. It ignores Farage's gross dishonesty while having hysterics over Labour/Green politicians mistakes. Sadly defunding isn't the answer. It's what Farage wants so he can sell it to his Russian cronies

It's not chauvenistuc nonsense Calling Scottish, Welsh and Irish people "English" is like calling all people of the Caribbean Islands 'American' just because they are in the same geographical unit of the 'Americas'. Or calling all the people of the USA "Texans".

Need to do something about the BBC. I resent having to pay to promote Farage & ultra-right wing politics, or be banned from watching most TV, or incur a criminal record. This is like forcing people to buy The Daily Mail before they can read any other newspaper. If they don't, they're criminals.

Friends use scurryfunging - rushing around clearing up before guests arrive - my word is "frenzyfunging" because I always end up in a much worse state; a frenzy of cleaning and tidying before guests are due.

Trump would have felt snubbed if King Charles had cancelled the visit & his vengeance against the UK would have known no bounds. Ditto if Trump was bright enough to realise how heavily Charles was criticising all MAGA policies. The criticism was there, but had to be heavily veiled.

The Royals cost each UK taxpayer £1.29 a year. And for that we get all the glitter of a head of state dumped on the Royals leaving our politicians free to get on with the job. Charities also benefit from their patronage snd support. Not to mention drawing in tourists. A bargain.

Sadly your President is a deranged toddler with enormous power. If our (constitutional) King is seen to snub him, he'll no doubt release the hounds of Hell against thd UK and no one in the USA will stop him. Our King has to suffer the nightmarish visit to save the UK from Trumpian wrath.

King George V's son Prince George fought & died on active service in WW2, Andrew, son of Queen Elizabeth fought in the Falkland war, Prince Harry fought on behalf of the USA as part of NATO forces in Afghanistan- if Trump wants to be a king there's a precedent for Barron fighting in Iran.

Get Trump & co to destroy NATO so US is isolated = Russia's long game to get back Alaska - return to the glories of the Russian empire, plus extend access to most of the Arctic with its vaste untapped minerals.

Worse is his determination to get rid of renewable sources of energy and make the UK heavily dependent on foreign oil and gas. If this war is showing us anything, it is that we have to develope our renewable energy supplies and become independent in terms of fuel as quickly as possible.
