Today's book post is a special one. I've been looking for this for years. 📚 'Making Clowns, Witches and Dragons' by Barbara Snook. Published in 1967 - and never reprinted to my knowledge. It's just so lovely. 🤡🧙‍♀️🐲

It's bad feng shui having a bike in bits in the box room.

If you did a Jonathan Creek theme...technically a TV detective 🕵‍♂️

Why hasn't The Ninth Gate received a bells and whistles release? I've always found the audio on the dvd so low and substandard. One of my top 5 films of all time. #RomanPolananski #JohnnyDepp

I've bought this book 3 times now. The first 2 got lost in the post (honestly) - finally I have a copy! I wrote to Peter just before he died & he replied basically saying 'thanks for your lovely letter, all the answers are in the bio!' Can't wait to dig in 📚 (no diggin' ere!) #PeterVaughan

It's a corker. Someone has uploaded all eps onto that very well known video upload site too. 😉

I always think Richard looks just like he's playing Dr Who in this pic. Imagine what a great Dr he would have been! #DrWho #RichardBeckinsale

That's impressive! This is one I found in St John's the Divine in Pemberton. First burial - 1913, last burial - 1990. Just love how that gilt lettering shines!

The 1st ep of Series 2 of Thriller gives us a real treat. A mysterious photo album, a gift of a single white glove, suspicious murders and the gorgeous Hayley Mills! There's something very creepy about this ep. So much so I had to finish it in daylight!

Having a rewatch of 'Wilt' today. 📺 I had a vague memory last night of my parents attending the premiere as my dad had a song featured in the party scene. I love these British 80's films. So much charm. And Mel Smith oozes charisma in every second of his screen time.

There is talk that there was a human inside. The operator was believed to have been a performer who had had both his legs amputated and who went by the name of Alba W. Root, and who also performed as a bicycle acrobat using leg prostheses. Still, fascinating whatever the outcome!

I've been obsessed by Enigmarelle since I read about him in Jan Bondeson's @forteantimes column. He was a fake humanoid automaton, he was exhibited as a scientific and technical curiosity around 1905 in the US and Europe. He could write his name, cycle, and other things!

He scares the life out of me in this ep.

I'm not sure many things sum up folk horror like the Thriller episode 'A Place to Die'. (S1, ep 7) I've seen this a few times, but on this rewatch - it chilled me to the core! A new Dr and his wife move to a small village where the villagers have some very strange beliefs!

defy anyone to watch this ep (Possession) of Thriller alone at night. It is really really unnerving at times. 👻 On my rewatch of the boxset - and 3 eps in, it's both scary and really well acted. I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed it! @MartinMAuthor1 youtu.be/Eyu1YVtklKs?si…

Re-watching 'The Sound Machine' episode of Tales of the Unexpected. I always think there is something of the E.F Benson about this story. It concerns a man who develops a box which amplifies even the tiniest sound -such as roses being cut. A real slice of sunshine horror. ☀️🖤

I bought this oddity from Ebay this week. 📽 It's a reel of The Owl Service. A 16mm film reel in a can. I have no way of playing it - but feels quite nice to have it!

It’s the 199th anniversary of the ‘Murder in the Red Barn’, which wasn’t discovered for a year, but when it was, the perpetrator was hanged, skinned, and used to bind a book... 🧵

I found the two books by accident. One is the screenplay for Death Angel released under the Theatre Box strand. The other is just a few of the spooky stories.
