Hello again, Bluesky. I've been lurking, but hesitant to post. I guess I've been kind of rendered speechless by, well, everything. No Kings gave me hope, but the demolition of the East Wing of the White House just gutted me. Can we pull back from the edge of the abyss?

Well, maybe if they stopped being actual demons...

The irony of this is laughable. Wanting universal health care, easily accessible child care, affordable and accurate education, free lunches in schools, climate consideration, and basically wanting everyone to be able to live happily and healthily is "blood thirsty"? OK, sure... 🤷‍♀️

I will never not watch this when it pops up in my feed. The passion, talent, self confidence, and joy in this little clip pretty much captures the "perfect man". Alpha dudes - take note. 😉

Absolutely. To put the full burden of disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation on the states is insane. Most states are reliant on FEMA grant funding to support nearly all their disaster programs. I picked either a good or a terrible time to leave my Emergency Management career.

My husband once created "The Original Shopping Cart Golf Facebook Page", where people posted videos of attempts at getting the cart into the coral from different distances/angles. He hoped making it fun might get more folks to do it. Yes, we'd straighten the carts once they made it into the coral. 😊

This makes me want to throw up. They're *proud* of this. Ghouls. How is this even happening? 😩

Congratulations to the Class of 2025! And thank you, Governor Moore, for keeping the spirit of service alive in our state while it sadly withers elsewhere in the nation. Signed, A grateful Marylander and AmeriCorps alum

Same! It was so heartwarming to see the posts from smaller towns, even if there were only a handful of people. That felt just as important to me as the huge crowds in the larger cities. 😍

Charlie says, "Happy Birthday, Lulu!!" Also? I wish Charlie could learn Lulu's sideeye ways. He gives "I'll just kill you in your sleep for your wrongdoings" vibes. 😳

Whoa. Instant flashback to my younger days! I LOVED this song then and still love it now, although I always found it a little haunting and definitely trippy. 😂 Thanks for the memories!

Oh my gosh, same! Peter Weir is my favorite director, and Mel Gibson is in two of his best. And he's outstanding in them. Have you seen Gallipoli? It's so powerful. I can't watch either of these again because I can't see past what Gibson has become. 🙁

Good morning, Stacie and all. Feeling a little pensive and melancholic this morning, with this song running through my head. Maybe it's just a reflection of the times... Hope everyone has a lovely Tuesday. youtu.be/cspZNptxlZ0?...

It's certainly fitting for the times. So, God, you can tell us... Is this shit show another biblical mass extinction event? Ya know, like a massive flood or plague of locusts?

Devastating news from the eagle's nest at the National Conservation Training Center whose Eagle Cam I mentioned in a post a few weeks ago. Tragically, the nest was destroyed in an unexpected storm last night, and its three little eaglets were killed. 💔 It's been quite a heartbreaking week. 😢

As an alum of the first class of AmeriCorps*NCCC, team leader and program manager of other AC programs, and former NHQ employee, I am absolutely gutted by this. This is an unfathomable loss to AmeriCorps members, the communities we've served, and to the entire nation. apnews.com/article/amer...

That anyone could vote for him after that (and everything else!) still baffles me. This (*gestures everywhere*) is just surreal.

Aw, man. I feel ya. Born in MoCo, raised in AACo, moved to purple-ish Talbot 3 years ago, but I live on a very red island. Def a minority here, however there are a few other “ex-pats” from the Western Shore who are like minded. In public, we greet each other with a nod and a silent look of despair.

Oh my gosh, we reference this movie, and that scene in particular, all the time. And yes, we've decided that even if 47 were to shield himself with a baby, he'd still have gotten "elected". It's not a cult, however. 🙄 It's freaking exhausting living in a scifi/political thriller movie.

So true. Watching the new season of Handmaid's Tale is like watching a 60 Minutes report. I used to be a fan of dystopian fiction - never imagined I'd be living it. Wish I could take this book back to the library and exchange it for some Erma Bombeck or something.

It's bittersweet that this choked me up so much. Beautiful to see but sad that this kind of empathy is more and more seldom seen during these times.
