Cedric @cedricrichards.bsky.social · 06/10/2026The Liberal Party led by Charles Milliard came in second, the Conservative Party led by Éric Duhaime came in third, and Québec Solidaire (a left wing party) came in fourth. After two massive majorities, the conservative Coalition Avenir Québec lost all their seats 1100
Cedric @cedricrichards.bsky.social · 06/10/2026The Parti Québécois, a longtime Québec separatist / culturally conservative party, has won the most seats in an election since 2012. Cedric @cedricrichards.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I stand by my ballot, where I voted to re-elect the incumbent candidates, and we shall see what happens on election day. 040
Cedric @cedricrichards.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Voting for Josh Morgan does not make me any less of a progressive. Having consistent leadership is important to me, and it’s not something that progressives should cede to the right. 141
Cedric @cedricrichards.bsky.social · 03/10/2026It would be great if we were able to vote for something and not against. While Josh Morgan has done some things I disagree with, he has done some things I agree with. Say what you want about construction in the city, I like the end result when it’s done, and I hope our infrastructure gap narrows. 120
Cedric @cedricrichards.bsky.social · 03/10/2026It would be really nice if we can have a mayor and council who saw things through, and we didn’t have to restart everything every four years. Last year, I had lunch with someone who observed the amount of “backlash elections” we’ve had in recent history. Would be great if we didn’t have that. 130
Cedric @cedricrichards.bsky.social · 03/10/2026She said she would only serve one term if elected, but I don’t think I can do another one-term mayor. My literal adult life, no mayor has served more than one full term. My first municipal vote, which I deeply regret, was for Joe Fontana, who made this pledge and he didn’t complete his term (iykyk) 110
Cedric @cedricrichards.bsky.social · 03/10/2026A lot of my left-wing pals won’t like this, but I also had to rule out Bronagh Joyce Morgan. I see eye to eye with her on the issues. But I don’t think I can do a “vote your conscience” in good conscience, when Stevenson could win. 100
Cedric @cedricrichards.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Kirsten Krose, I also ruled out, because of the whole Toronto fundraiser at the Albany club. Her campaign being “this isn‘t the London I remember”, gives me “Michael Ignatieff attack ad” vibes (you know, he didn’t come back for you) 120
Cedric @cedricrichards.bsky.social · 03/10/2026And, I caught that video online of Stevenson attending the March For Jesus. None of it really sounds like someone I want representing our city. 120

Cedric @cedricrichards.bsky.social · 03/10/2026And there’s obviously also the outrage farming and misery porn. While we should never deny what’s going on, and we should always acknowledge our city’s problems, a great leader needs to rally us all behind a positive vision every step of the way 130
Cedric @cedricrichards.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I immediately ruled out Susan Stevenson when I found out she was going to run. I do not see eye to eye with her on the issues, I don’t think cuts of $70M will be good for the city, I don’t think we can do another tax freeze or anything similar to it. 120
Cedric @cedricrichards.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Then, there is the mayoral vote. I was really struggling to think of who to vote for until Labour Day weekend. My vote is never wooden, and it’s open more than most progressives in the city. But I’ve felt for me that there is no other choice than to vote for Josh Morgan. 100
Cedric @cedricrichards.bsky.social · 03/10/2026The ward councillor vote was an easy one, as I voted to re-elect Skylar Franke. She is very constituency-focused, and compared to the other candidates in this ward, it’s no contest. 150
Cedric @cedricrichards.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I hope that even with diminished powers, our trustees will fight for schools in communities that I grew up in that are, quite frankly, left behind and forgotten 130
Cedric @cedricrichards.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I was asked by a trustee candidate in the last election, why would I care about the board if I had no kids. I care because schools are community hubs, and contribute to the health of them as well. Despite all the mess going on with TVDSB, I can’t find a reason to vote against the incumbents 130
Cedric @cedricrichards.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I consider myself a progressive, politically. I also voted for the incumbents throughout my entire ballot. Both of those things can work with each other. I voted for the incumbents, because above all, there was no compelling reason for me to vote against them. 110
Cedric @cedricrichards.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I recently moved to Ward 11, home of Old South and Southcrest. For the English language public school board, that puts me in the southeast constituency with Wards 1, 11, 12, and 14. 210
Cedric @cedricrichards.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I went into the voting booth, thinking about that, and how large our city is, and how divided it is as well. I wanted to mark my ballot with people who I would want to representing us at whatever table there is, and to best advocate for solutions, and to bring other people together. 120
Cedric @cedricrichards.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Municipal government is the most important government in this country. If they stopped collecting the garbage, you would notice quickly! Less so, the other levels of government, let’s be real 140
Cedric @cedricrichards.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Whatever your criticisms are of City Hall, I really enjoy the building, maybe because of the intrinsic power it has. I have been inside council chambers, and have met every mayor since Joe Fontana. 130
