The Bollin Valley Longhorn conservation grazing cattle have been having their routine hoof trim. Hoof trimming has many benefits from preventing lameness & infection to all round cow comfort. The specialist trailer ensures that the cow is comfortable, whilst protecting the vet.
A cow is secured in a mechanical device, for veterinary treatment. The device is outdoors, next to a brick wall and surrounded by greenery.

Ranger Roger was working on the last section of a project to refresh the Public Right of Way steps down the slopes of Tegg's Nose Country Park. Teams from AstraZeneca, our regular volunteers & the Rangers have replaced rotten timber, reprofiled sections & added additional steps over the last 2 years

The Bollin Valley Partnership Longhorn cattle play a vital role, not only just by maintaining our countryside sites but improving them too. They provide conservation grazing which improves the biodiversity in the soils, flora and fauna within the areas they graze.

Ranger Al and one of his volunteers have been doing some boundary fence repair and maintenance along the Salt Line this week. The trails have many miles of fencing, so there's a lot to maintain. Thanks as always to all our volunteers.

Bollin Valley Partnership Ranger Emma & our friends at Mersey Rivers Trust recently ran a river bank management day at The Carrs, in Wilmslow. Banks of willow, planted to help stop erosion, were pruned & then the resulting whips of willow were either replanted or woven back into the natural fencing.

A few weeks ago contractors were performing their annual meadow cut at a number of our countryside sites. After the wildflowers have set seed and the seeds have dropped to the ground the tractor attachment cuts and collects the grass which is then deposited off the meadow.

A couple of benches are being replaced on Salt Line & Borrow Pit Meadows. Regular site checks are carried out, & when infrastructure items are deemed in need of replacement due to wear & tear / rotten timber, work gets underway. New benches will be installed over autumn & winter.

The latest exhibition, at Tegg's Nose Gallery, is now on show! ‘From the Heart' by Jennie Davies is open from 9am to 4pm, 7 days a week until Wednesday the 16th of September.

Bollin Valley Partnership Ranger Emma and Friends of The Carrs recently ran a meadow management morning. Local scything expert Nikki, joined us and trained people in the correct use of scythes and how to sharpen the blades. The 20 volunteers managed to cut over half of the large wild flower patch.
