Stigma and ignorance around neurological issues are very common and unhelpful, it’s bad enough dealing with these problems as it is (like i can’t drive, etc). I have controlled seizures as well as chronic migraine.

My current view while the kid infodumps.

Knees as point of view in foreground, wearing black pants. Afternoon light illuminates the room. A gray cat sits on the sill of the open window. The curtain reaches to the floor, and is blue-green with embroidered golden feathers. A black and silver dog sleeps on a gray bed between the cat and the viewer.

I fried crescent dough, cut into circles, in oil and filled them with buttercream and tossed them in cinnamon and sugar. I did one in raspberry preserves, too. Dayum.

Taking the day off while the boys are at school/work. The house is full of incense and music, I got time to meditate and do yoga, I'm folding laundry now. Then I'm going to go shopping for makeup, and then see where else the day takes me. It is cold, wet, and rainy, but it's a beautiful day, to me.

Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts. Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

Been a while. Made an art for January in my bujo. Bad lighting, but I like how it turned out in person. More of a concept. Might redo this in earnest on canvas. Anyway:

Art. Black background with multiple splatters of white paint across the middle, horizontally.

I had a mild panic attack last night, plagued by the doomy thoughts that surely something awful was coming down the line like it always does. "Something bad is beginning that will bite me in the ass, soon." But immediately I thought, "Something good is beginning, too."

The car is gone. My dad might be able to fix it over time, but it will probably be sold for parts. So husband's gramma is letting us have her old car. I don't know how anyone gets by without a safety net. I'm so grateful. I can breathe for now.

Poverty means driving your car even when it's making noises and then it dies on the middle of the highway. I have a free tow w/ insurance. My parents are letting me borrow their 2nd car. I'll know more tomorrow. I'm blessed to have the safety net I do. But right now I'm just so tired of poverty.

A Rhythm of Prayer edited by Sarah Bessey is really beautiful. I'm glad it's available at my library. This collection of essays, poems, prayers, and meditations is hitting me right in my dissociated soul. It's not really "healing," but I do feel seen. And that is akin to healing. Healing-adjacent.

Kiddo's teacher suggested we write encouraging letters to our children to be given to them on their SOL (state testing) days next week. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Two envelopes, addressed to my child on their math and reading testing days. The math one has a hen in glasses peaking up from the bottom border of the envelope. The reading one has Pusheen leaning into view from the left border of the envelope.

Trying to take advantage of breaks outside before it's too hot. Sadly, mosquitos are already out.

Kiddo and I played art prompts: give each other two words and draw something that combines the two. Explanations in alt text.

Drawings in a sketchbook:
Puzzle slime
Clockwork eyeball
Skeleton airship
Hand egg
Dragon glue
Bigass frog (which I intentionally turned into big assfrog)

Can't stop thinking about the Aventine Triad like country music values of the romanticized rural life, drinking beer, and a girlfriend you can really run off with. If I kept running with this analogy, would that make Postumius as Trump, and the ludi as Nascar and Alone? #myth
