Disappointed to read that @mayorwu.boston.gov's admin is giving up on making Boston an attractive and affordable place to live. Boston is supposed to be the "City on a Hill", an example of the best in people and policy. A majority of research... 1/3 www.bostonglobe.com/2026/09/08/b...

Landlords rejoice! Davis Square will continue to grow more unaffordable as more and more residents move in and fight for the same constrained housing supply

No mention of which streets get the concrete barriers or when they'll be installed. Infuriating how she refuses to commit to anything

Ok. Here goes: 1/20 (I think) - For context it’s important to me to remember that safer streets were integral to @wutrain.bsky.social and her council tenure and I was there through all of it. It was one of her defining policy through lines, including a series of hearings that exposed how shallow…

Really good post - the documents here show the full scope of how targeted and intentional @mayorwu.boston.gov's rollback of safe streets improvement was, and how much of it was informed by a small group of business owners. She really doesn't have a vision here at all

Statement from @bikeboston.bsky.social, @streetsboston.bsky.social, and @walkmass.bsky.social about Louisa Gag, who was hit and killed by a driver today. Yet another life taken because our society and leaders refuse to address the destruction wrought by cars.
We are devastated by the loss of Boston resident and transportation planner, Louisa Gag. On Thursday morning, a driver struck and killed Louisa on her bicycle commute to city hall along Tremont Street near Roxbury Crossing.
Louisa Gag is not just a number on a spreadsheet; she was a champion for safer streets, a vibrant part of the planning and advocacy community, and a person dedicated to fixing the very system that failed her.
MASSACHUSETTS VISION ZERO COALITION
Prior to joining the city of Boston's Transportation Department, Louisa graduated with a masters from the Tufts Urban and Environmental Planning and Policy program and worked at Livable Streets Alliance. Our hearts are with Louisa, her family, and all her colleagues and friends at BTD, UEP, and in the advocacy community.
Fatalities are a heartbreaking reminder of the safety gaps in our infrastructure. Inaction and needless delays have consequences. Changes must be made to dangerous streets before we lose a community member, not after.
We need safer streets now.

There were a couple city watch parties at Roadrunner in Brighton - It'd be cool if they set up a beverage district and hosted an outdoor watch party in the neighborhood too though

When you're left-wing and want to exclude people, you call the people you dislike "transplants." When you're right-wing and want to exclude people, you call the people you dislike "illegals." They both want the same outcome The better solution: build more homes for everyone.

The protection on the lanes was removed during the blizzards, and it's been radio silence from the city about if they're being replaced. We got some really good protected bike infrastructure after advocating for it for years, and to have it removed with no communication is disheartening

Cullen Deimer @cdeimer.com · 30/06/2026
No shame in that! We were so close with the Western Ave bike lanes to making that corridor safer and more accessible to bikers, before getting the rug pulled out from us this winter

Exactly! If there are places in Allston you refuse to go because you only want to travel by car, you're resigning yourself to missing out on the coolest parts of the neighborhood. (Never mind the fact that there actually is parking nearby, you might just have to pay a couple dollars)

Everyone needs to check out the new public space here! Lots of great little spots for gathering and exploring, and more shops and restaurants coming soon. Another big step forward for Western Ave!

Hey @mayorwu.boston.gov this isn’t what you said on @wgbh.org’s BPR a couple of months ago. What do you mean a moratorium on the safety of cyclists @streets.boston.gov? Does Allston-Brighton not deserve the same protection as World Cup tourists downtown? This is upsetting.

I miss this @mayorwu.boston.gov "when cities move to a very small charge, residents start to think differently about what to do with their vehicles. Any steps to get closer to the actual impact of circling and congestion and pollution start to affect how people think about their parking choices."
