I want to go back to this. Also, someone needs to talk me down the ledge here before I spend $1,400 on this never used minidisc player.

Without giving away a ton, the last season of Euphoria was... so stupid. Sam Levinson threw away 2 seasons of rich character development to write a Quentin Tarantino fanfic. Complete waste of performances by Zendaya, Colman Domingo, and Jacob Elordi.

If Sony made a hifi audio player that looked like their old Walkman I would spend an irresponsible amount of cash on it.

Like a lot of other people my age, The Princess Bride and This Is Spinal Tap were a big part of my formative years and why I grew up to become the person that I am today. I don’t have the words for how sad this is.

Excessive? Most definitely. But still cool that you can do it without any JavaScript.

I appreciate Duolingo but the last bunch of sections have all been really negative and it’s a little obnoxious?

I've been using Claude Code with neovim and tmux, and I'm really liking the ability to opt into using the LLM to do things rather than constantly fight off autosuggestions that I'm not interested in.

I spent too much time trying different Javascript animation libraries and in the end I was the happiest with a (mostly) CSS approach. Wild what you can do with CSS masking and trig functions.

One thing I've run into quite a few times is App.PageState types when using pushState. 1. Load a page's data with preloadData, and use pushState with modal: data. 2. Render modal and the page, passing the data, and you have to import the PageData types for that and cast the type.

I'd spent some nights this week with anime.js and I really, really like the API. Particularly with Svelte, this feels like a really nice way to compose non-trivial animations.

I've been playing around with adding little flourishes with CSS animation timelines and I've been really happy with how easy it is and how smooth they are

I’m up at 5am and I was just curious to see what places deliver on Caviar in SF this early/late and I see cheesesteaks from a place in the airport and now I can’t stop thinking about what a dark, dark place you’d have to be in to order airport cheesesteaks at 5am and I can’t sleep.

Today I discovered that CSS style queries are available in most major, modern browsers (except Firefox) and I feel so powerful.

I’m not a watch person and I’ve hardly bought anything online in a while but every time I’m on instagram they feed me ads for watches and every time they get more and more expensive and it’s far past the realm of anything that makes sense / who do they think I am?

I did a test run of a clarified painkiller a few days ago, I’ve been looking for a holiday Tiki drink to make a large clarified batch of this week. Any recommendations?

First day back, I’ve missed Brooklyn very much
Leaving the west coast, flying through clouds at sunrise. Looking down a rainy street to Manhattan from Greenpoint, Brooklyn. A circus tent in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, reflecting in a puddle of rain water. An empty pizza place between lunch and dinner with a checkerboard tile floor and red dining tables with green diner chairs.

I've been making and animating SVGs by hand and I know there's gotta be a better way. What's everyone else doing? I just want to be able to draw and animate singular elements, not build the entire project in some kind of tool like Framer.

Christian de Botton @cdb.is · 16/11/2024
TIL you can declare SVG paths as a CSS property and animate them with CSS transitions, introduced in 2016 and adopted by all major browser engines in 2020, except for WebKit, which is... incredibly disappointing.

I asked the playground app beta to make a picture of me eating spaghetti and I think it really nailed it.
A generative ai cartoon image of the author eating spaghetti. The spaghetti is floating like it’s possessed above his hand with no fork and there is an extra thumb. Also he has little baby shark teeth. A generative ai cartoon image of the author eating spaghetti. The spaghetti seems as though it’s being fed to him, and rather than going in his mouth it is osmosis-ing through his cheek. A generative ai cartoon image of the author eating spaghetti. The spaghetti appears to be entering his head through a hole on the bottom of his chin. A generative ai cartoon image of the author eating spaghetti. The spaghetti is attached to the bottom of his lip as he is threatened by silverware entering the left and right sides of the frame.
