It's so weird how it looks like frontend is the first thing that CEOs are trying to automate away because in my experience, all frontier models are excellent at building infrastructure given a solid design, but absolutely NOTHING can get them to build out non-trivial user experiences correctly.

A full week on the Claude Code 20x plan with Opus 4.8 and I went through 44% of my weekly usage limit. A day and a half on Fable 5, I've gone through 68% already. It's impressive, but I had no complaints with Opus 4.8. Being that it's going billing-only, I can probably safely stop using it now.

The Fable 5 model has been pretty incredible, but it's noticeably much slower and is absolutely tearing through my Claude 20x plan right now. I think it's a great tool for planning and iterating on new large features, but for visiting existing work, I think I need to drop back down to Opus/Sonnet.

I can't really understand why there's so much hyper around Vercel and not Cloudflare. Cloudflare is such an cool set of products and you can really do anything you want.

I think LLMs are much better suited for infrastructure and services than for clients. I've been able to do some pretty amazing things with it, building out a pretty broad infrastructure on Cloudflare including identity, video transcoding, analytics and feature flagging. It's pretty incredible.

I upgraded to the Claude Code 20x plan for the month to get through some side project work, coincidentally, the first Mythos model just dropped and is available for CC plans through near the end of June before it goes to usage-only. I'd been hitting 50% of my limits, guess it's time to let it rip.

The most helpful change I've made in my life is writing things down by hand. Either before I go to sleep or right when I wake up, I write down a todo list, on a piece of paper, with a pen, and I check it off throughout the day. I find that I'm much more likely to do everything.

When I was taking my first half of pat leave I asked Sonnet 4 a bunch of questions on two topics. On my second half, now, and I asked Opus 4.7 to take all of those questions and prepare two sets of docs I could read on my phone. I chewed through 82% of my token budget in those two questions alone.

I spent 15 years working professionally, primarily, as a frontend dev. After spending the last two years writing primarily Go and Rust, it is absurd to me how fragmented the frontend ecosystem is. The number of linters and formatters you need to install to cover all of your code is obscene.

I’m surprised there isn’t more talk about moonrepo.dev. It isn’t much more complex than turborepo but feels like goes a long way toward the flexibility of something like bazel. Setting it up took a minute or two and it does everything I’d want in a polyglot repo.

String directives in JS like ‘use server’ aren’t bad because of ergonomics, but in the vast landscape of JS compilers with their various plugins, their meanings become incredibly opaque. I don’t believe more than a small percentage of NextJS developers could explain what use server does, explicitly.

I haven’t hit a ton of paper cuts when working with Cloudflare workers but one that I’ve run into with R2 in dev is that certain APIs like FixedLengthStream are only available when running with miniflare, which makes a normal debugger workflow with, say, sveltekit, really difficult and annoying.
