Pete Hegseth hates the same people that Donald Trump hates...only somewhat more openly. That is why Trump nominated him to be SECDEF. That is also why the Trump-cultists in the U.S. Senate confirmed him. For now, Pete Hegseth isn't going anywhere... ...but perhaps when this is all over...to Hell.

Multiple things can be true at the same time... Trump and his principal enablers (Hegseth, Miller, Vought, [Mike] Johnson, etc.) are doubtless evil people. You can't murder innocent fishermen and just up and dismantle USAID without being evil. But mental illness is doubtless at play too...

I feel like this might be your "blind spot"... Because if it were indeed true for me that "everything is about race", then my biggest hero growing up (outside of my parents and the other veterans in my family) would have been a Black civil-rights activist, and not this guy...

That's why my middle-middle-class, center-left parents bit a major financial bullet and sent me to a private school (on an academic scholarship that I earned) grades 9-12, because in the late 1960's, the center-right majority in our district started voting down tax levees for the public schools...

Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) is on a book tour. His book tour is clearly a "clean-up on Aisle-6" operation. Tillis employs a lot of Trump-normalization: rationalization, obfuscation, and "whataboutism" (mostly attacking presidents Obama/Biden). Interviewers need to openly call out his lies. My $0.02:
