Drew something in pencil for the first time in a while, to test out a pencil stability grip thing I got on Amazon. It works pretty well and my colored pencils fit in it! Only way I know to test pencil stability is drawing or hiragana, so the writing on the bottom says "すごい!" (Sugoi/Awesome)

I don't know. I'm missing some vital thing that I don't know and no one seems to be able to tell me that makes interacting with me appealing, and I guess art is the way I try to get that interaction. It used to work. I think. I never learned anything else. Just got used to being ignored.

"Just draw what you like" is fine and good until you realize that what you like doesn't appeal to anyone and a lack of external validation of any kind is incredibly isolating and depressing. Everything I "like" to draw feels like another reminder that I'm a weird outcast.

I keep trying to rework my style and my drawing methods in the hope that I can appeal to literally anyone, and at the end of the day I wind up sitting at my desk feeling like I wasted my entire life because I wanted to be an artist but I'm not a rich white painter.

I can't find any advice about art that isn't the useless "just keep trying" stuff or the equally useless "I'm assuming you know absolutely nothing" stuff. The former feels patronizing and the latter is just insulting, but if I say that it's "I'm just trying to help you're so negative"

The only thing I ever get is basic beginner advice from people who get angry if I say I have a graphic design degree and I know the fundamentals already. Like, I know color theory, and line art, and anatomy, and I know where to find reference images. I've drawn nearly every day for 15 years.

I'm trying to find a way to make more of an income with my art, but also I have low self-confidence and a very slow work speed, paired with executive dysfunction and depression. I don't typically like selling commissions bc I feel like I don't deliver fast enough or with enough quality.

Some animation progress? It's slow-going because I kept having issues with the proportions looking weird until I tried stylizing it some more instead of sticking to the rotoscoped outline, but god it takes so long to do frame by frame animation

For most of the game he's just a disembodied voice, but at the end you help him get a physical body and I was immediately just like "hold on Al-an was hot this whole time?" lmao Plus he has these cool floaty arms that he controls around himself, legit such a cool design

I should be working on that animation or finishing my existing WIPs, instead I started another WIP bc I finished Subnautica Below Zero and I am in love with my new alien cyborg centaur boyfriend

Jesus... idk what is different about this render that makes it not save like the last WIP video I uploaded. I have now copied just my motion outlines to a new file, but Photoshop has decided the best thing to do with that folder is to make every frame I drew a full 5 seconds for no reason

Okay what the hell is happening. The audio is removed from my original recording. It is silent when I preview it in VLC. And then when I upload it, the sound is back???? I filmed my screen to get the movement recorded so the sound is just me breathing and my heart valve, but it's weird

Also to get a non-copyrighted reference video, I made a version of Dane in Honey Select 2 and recorded an animation from the character creator using my phone. The original is awful quality but that gives me more leeway to be creative with the animation Also Honey Select is good for making shitposts

Tweening is when you animate with keyframes, so like you have a character that's a bunch of moving parts and tell it "put these parts at these positions at this time", it's more common bc it's way faster Rotocoping is drawing every frame over an existing video and looks great but takes forever
