This is why I don't like AI as it currently works. I wrote, "It is a long story." ProWritingAid suggested "The story stretches over a great length," and "The tale unfolds across an extensive span." Sorry, but I prefer, "It is a long story." I think it is a human thing to say. #editing

@zsk.bsky.social I had a whimsical thought as I woke this morning with the Scottish sun shining down. Why out of the millions and millions of websites out there, do AI models chose to attack big powerful ones? What is the incentive? cont.. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Sensible article from BBC @kalihays.bsky.social. Just because someone is senior in a company doesn't mean they are not a fantasist. Techy sorts are prone to this. Used to know lots of IT sorts years back. They were well into conspiracy theories and anything "dark." 1/4 www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Roasted a nice chicken with thick strips of guanciale tonight. The benefit of buying guanciale in one lump is that I can cut very thick strips which don't wither away in the oven.

I sometimes think the more intelligent someone is, the more stupid they become. As Fry says, "Can't be trusted to sit the right way on a toilet." The biggest threat AI poses is how humans use it. For everything else, there is the power switch. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... @joetidy.bsky.social

A thought about AI. I am drifting into using AI locally rather than online. This is for "using as a tool" rather than for searching etc. Should Big Tech be pushed towards people using AI locally for some functions? Reduce use of data centres, etc? #Tech #AI #BigTech

Here's a thought about AI. AI has become the new trendy thing to hate. To such an extent that if someone dares to do something with it, they get attacked and bullied. But the real problem with AI is NOT that someone can use it to ghost write their book. Here is a little thread. 1/11

I was just remembering back to the 1990s when I used to make ads for CD compilation companies who would tell via phone numbers, quoting a minimum of 28 days for delivery! What a difference the internet made - not just to communications, but to logistics!

#writingtip Writing with a font size of 14 rather than 11 or 12, keeps me better focussed and more likely to see errors. So I have two new templates. 14 point, Garamond, and 1.5 line spacing for my big PC monitor, and a 16-point version for the audiobook/reading version used on iPad.

The real reason that news outlets like the BBC feel they must fact check everything is that the public has become TOO STUPID to work it out for themselves. It is a mad world where we now blame news outlets for the lies told by politicians. Are unable to separate the story from the messenger.

Reading a few negative comments by scholars of Greek about Christopher Nolan's adaptation of The Odyssey. Before one spits and huffs over the accuracy of any history or mythology in any film, particularly fighting Homer's corner, perhaps ask the question: "Would homer enjoy it?" HE WOULD LOVE IT!
