Avoid all things addictive. Just stay far away. Don't try them even once. Addiction will utterly ruin your life. It is NOT worth it.

The argument Centrists yell at us every time -- Party Unity! You Must Help Us Win Against Scary Republicans! -- somehow never applies to *them* when an actually principled progressive wins the primary. Every single time, the Centrists betray us. Because they have no real values. Only greed.

Explain to me why Obama was a good president. He stabbed women in the back by refusing to fight for a national abortion bill. He broke his promises to close Guantanimo, obtain medicare for all, and stop wars. He bailed out the bankers who caused the fin crisis. He was the "deporter in chief." Etc.

Astrological bypassing is so gross. You are responsible for your choices. The planets could help with understanding what you're dealing with, and wisdom in how to do better, but they aren't scapegoats. Be an adult, own your shit.

Democrats supported all these wars as well. The 2 party system is a sham. They are all paid by the military industrial complex. We must get rid of corruption, or this will continue to happen.

Better than some I've experienced. He was trying to make small talk and ease into the conversation by referencing something from your profile, which is more than most guys I encountered on the app. I don't love small talk, myself, but I know that for some people it calms them down.

Very few people resist technology per se. People can recognize when something is helping them, and when its not. They resist its EFFECTS, its implementation, and the distributions of its benefits. Please stop using that tired argument about people resisting progress. It's just plain wrong.

Curmudgeonly Capricorn 🏳️‍⚧️ @cbystarlight.bsky.social · 17/08/2026
And secondly, not wanting to lose one's source of income is hardly a trivial concern. It's, um... existential. Technology is supposed to be a tool that serves human needs, not the other way around.

A few examples: Furniture and clothing are shit today, because we have machines make them instead of people. The Industrial Revolution did directly lead to the Great Depression. And are we sure that pollution from oil is actually less harmful than horse manure?

Curmudgeonly Capricorn 🏳️‍⚧️ @cbystarlight.bsky.social · 17/08/2026
People who protest certain technologies usually are NOT just stubbornly clinging to the past. They usually have extremely valid concerns. Telling them they are just being stubborn is dismissive and intellectually lazy.

"People of every age have resisted technological progress, because they don't want their jobs to become obsolete. We will adapt, just like we always have." This is deeply flawed reasoning, in addition to being sociopathic. 🧵

NS received fees for consultancy and giving scientific talks from AstraZeneca, Boehringer Ingelheim, Lilly, Novo Nordisk, Pfizer, and Sanofi; and received research support from AstraZeneca, Boehringer Ingelheim, and Sanofi.

Our brains always try desperately to maintain equilibrium for the worldview we have been taught. Prejudices are extremely difficult to eradicate, because of this. If someone is PAID to promote a worldview, it's even harder to get them to change.

When you control for these factors, discrepancies disappear. Additionally, when data shows the opposite of diet culture narrative (thin=good), for example that fat people have lower mortality rates, they don't call it data. They call it a "paradox" that needs to be carefully magicked away.

B) Weight cycling (lose-gain-lose-gain is harder on the body than remaining at a stable weight) C) Medical neglect (doctors often withhold medical care unless the patient loses weight. Meanwhile the patient's health deteriorates due to lack of care. Some doctors refuse to accept fat patients.)

Curmudgeonly Capricorn 🏳️‍⚧️ @cbystarlight.bsky.social · 23/07/2026
Depends what result you're looking at. Most discrepancies are better explained by: A) Stigma (all marginalized populations, whatever their weight, have worse health in general than people accepted by mainstream society)

Weight loss researchers have been caught in extremely unethical practices. To name just one example, after they couldn't produce the results they wanted, they changed the focus of the study... 3 years and 55 attempts in. Many other examples here: www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

The "science" behind all the GLP studies is done by people with serious conflicts of interest. The "consensus" is steeped in diet culture, not objective. Fat is not deadly, even in higher amounts. Thin people get the same diseases fat people get.
