It was great talking with Dash Shaw for Publishers Weekly about ‘Like Swimmers,’ his Covid-era murder mystery for @nyrb-imprints.bsky.social. Shaw discusses the book’s origins, Lichtenstein, Chabrol, and creating a comic his character would actually read. www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/...

I talked with Lucas Harari for Publishers Weekly about his noirish body-swap graphic novel ‘The Case of David Zimmerman’ (a loose film adaptation, ‘The Unknown,’ premiered at Cannes this year), Paris heatwaves, and his illustration for the issue’s cover.

Isabel Pine, Laurel Halo, Field Commander Ali, Kim Gordon, Charli XCX. I'd also mention group projects Dry Cleaning, The Dengie Hundred with Gemma Blackshaw, and Ring ('Rotation'). And I'm looking forward to records from Carla dal Forno, Ana Roxanne, Guests, and Cindy.

I still have a blue Sony Walkman MiniDisc player. Uncertain whether it still operates, but still adorable. Also have one commercially-released MiniDisc of pre-recorded material, which capitalized on the format's smooth track shuffling.

A hot take! 'Splazsh' and 'R.I.P.' have a pretty tight grip on "favorite" status for me. It's been several years since I last sat down with 'Ghettoville,' though, and this is a good nudge to make some time for it again.
