Chris Brailsford @cbrails.bsky.social · 07/03/2025I’d say probably not, since the bulk of your work isn’t developing. Doesn’t mean you don’t DO development, but it’s not really your “role” anymore. 110
Chris Brailsford @cbrails.bsky.social · 28/02/2025I wish I had known about this event happening prior to today, as I would have loved to attend! 000

Chris Brailsford @cbrails.bsky.social · 28/02/2025I suppose my fellow engineers using strong tags instead of divs is a step up, though if they’re already adding a tag, it’s REALLY not a stretch to just use a heading 😐 000
Chris Brailsford @cbrails.bsky.social · 22/02/2025Happy birthday Anna! Hope it’s as wonderful as it can be! 010
Chris Brailsford @cbrails.bsky.social · 04/01/2025I was also thinking of border-image when I watched the video, and despite @css-only.dev’s article, it just fails to fully click for some reason 010
Reposted by Chris BrailsfordScott Jehl @scottjehl.com · 03/01/20252025. I’ve been building websites for over 25 years! I’m an optimistic type, yet I can’t help but feel uninspired in the popular direction of our field in this moment. There's still meaningful work to do here to be sure, but the driving trend to automate every creative step has become rather... sad. 4576
Chris Brailsford @cbrails.bsky.social · 18/12/2024I feel similarly about AI (and frameworks) and it gives me pause going down that road if it’s just going to lead to more work fighting the code. I used frameworks way back in the day (Bootstrap v1) to get going and understand layouts, but generally now they can seem like a hindrance. 010
Chris Brailsford @cbrails.bsky.social · 18/12/2024Watched this earlier today and was like, “… oh yeeeeeaaaah… that’s still an option” 😅 010
Chris Brailsford @cbrails.bsky.social · 18/12/2024I know I've seen a few people like @kevinpowell.co cover this in videos, but I don't remember whether it's fully explained *why* it works that way. 100
Chris Brailsford @cbrails.bsky.social · 16/12/2024Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy pineapple on pizza, but that’s certainly not EVERYONE’s preference. Forcing that as a required field instead is just a silly reaction of, “There! I changed it! Are you happy?” 120
Chris Brailsford @cbrails.bsky.social · 15/12/2024Also, I wanted to say I first came across your writing via the article “The Internet According to Me”, and while multiple items resonated with me (Neopets, Oregon Trail, etc), it was the DARPA Chief reference that I loved, because I’m the same way 😆 my brain went, “He gets it. We should be friends.” 110
Chris Brailsford @cbrails.bsky.social · 15/12/2024I think it’s been close to a decade that I’ve told my family not to buy me things, because I prefer experiences and time with people over material items. Doesn’t stop them from asking, even when they don’t have much money in the first place, but feel obligated to buy “stuff” for others. 120
Chris Brailsford @cbrails.bsky.social · 07/12/2024Oh yeah, that’s definitely @danielobrien.bsky.social! 100

Chris Brailsford @cbrails.bsky.social · 06/12/2024Ain't that always the way? "This season wasn't great... guess I'll need to stick around and see if they course correct in the next one!" 😂 010
Chris Brailsford @cbrails.bsky.social · 06/12/2024I came across FROM via a few YouTube shorts. Are the first 2 seasons any good? 110
Chris Brailsford @cbrails.bsky.social · 05/12/2024I recently came across a job post that wanted me to answer some questions via recorded videos, to help assess my "communication skills on remote settings." While I *get it*, it's also... not my favorite thing. 020
Chris Brailsford @cbrails.bsky.social · 05/12/2024Ah, gotcha! Still, interesting to know. Thankfully there aren't too many deprecations made nowadays (as that would break existing tech), but it's also not *never*. 010
Chris Brailsford @cbrails.bsky.social · 05/12/2024Out of curiosity, what was the tech deprecation that caused it to be shut down? 110
Chris Brailsford @cbrails.bsky.social · 03/12/2024I ran into this recently myself, and had to run through the various plugins to figure out which was the culprit 010
Chris Brailsford @cbrails.bsky.social · 30/11/2024I heard someone say “it’s funny how a 2.5 hour musical becomes 2 movies, the first of which is… 2.5 hours”, and that stuck with me 😆 000

Chris Brailsford @cbrails.bsky.social · 20/11/2024Didn’t it become habit to start JS with a semicolon just to protect against OTHER JS not working and closing itself out? Is that not enough of an example of bad fault tolerance? 020
Chris Brailsford @cbrails.bsky.social · 20/11/2024I just don’t understand how people can’t see that JS is one of the most fragile parts of the entire frontend stack 250
