Oh no it's not looking good for #Calcite 🙀 Think of all the fossils we would not have without the pawsome #mineral calcite

Today it's #Calcite against the extremely rare #mineral #Julienite at #MinCup26😻 We vote for calcite in memory of Ornella 🌈 who voted for calcite because of its use as #compass 😻 due to its high birefringence😻

Today it's #Gypsum against #Pyromorphite at #MinCup26 😻 Look this pawsome lake in #Switzerland was formed because the #mineral gypsum can form #karst 😻 Thus thanks to gypsum Simbalito could have this Pawsome subsurface adventure 😻 #DoesItCat ? Yes🐾

In today's #MinCup26 duell it is #Hafnon against #Putnisite we didn't know either of them, but we see that the #mineral Hafnon has a simple formula Hf[SiO4]. Just simple enough for our humans😽 and that it is the only known mineral with #Hafnium as main ingredient🙀 #DoesItCat ? Yes🐾

Today it's #Talc against #Stichtite at #MinCup26 😻 This is easy for us Talc is representating the fluffy end of the Moths scale that measures the hardness of a #mineral 🙀😹 Being fluffy is one of the supaw powers of #cats So #DoesItCat ? YES🐾 #PawForScale #geologywithcats

Today it's #Quartz vs the newly discovered #Asagiite 😻 Sorry for the new #mineral but quartz makes the #clocks tick that remind our humans to serve us breakfast, lunch, dinner & the other meals & there are many. #DoesItCat ? Yes #MinCup26 #geologwithcats #geology

Today, it’s #cuprite versus #orpiment in the #MinCup26. Easy! The #mineral orpiment contains arsenic, & that is very toxic to #cats. But cuprite is a #copper oxide that often forms on #bronze statues, & bronze statues exist primarily to pay homage to cats. #DoesItCat ? YES #geologywithcats

Today it's #Erythrite vs. #Skutterudite at #MinCup26 😻 This is again difficult because we don't know either of them🙀 We however found a #DoesItCat criterion. Transparency & translucency for Skutterudite is opaque-like it is for us- the mysterious #cats 😽 so Skutterudite it is

Today the vote at #Mincup2026 ( now with correct hashtag 🙀😽) was a difficult decision because we couldn't figure out a #DoesItCat criterion for the #mineral 🙀 Neither for #Azurite nor for #Smithsonite . However in Germany #Azurite is also called Bergblau (mountain blue) and we like the mountains...
