I now completed a cycle of Old World, every nation (9) on "The Strong" with 4 double victories and 5 VP wins (usually close to DV, but didn't quite get there) This one represents Egypt on a desert map. Assyria nabbed a barbarian site I wanted, but the momentum was unstoppable.

Behind the scenes ( off social media) I have been doing some deep dives into #OldWorld and setting myself specific measurable metrics to reach, especially in science for each game. This one I did not hit a single metric, but using the strategies behind those got me a win I was WELL happy with.

I grew up in the North East and knew from an early age just how busy and valuable the RNLI volunteers are. We learnt about Grace Darling at school. At sea, you help people in trouble. No ifs ands or buts. I will always stand by the RNLI.

Most recent game of #OldWorld was a fun one. Egypt on a desert map with Akhenaten as the starting leader. First game in a long while I had to build "Tall" rather than "Wide" (to use the Civ terms). Just 3 city sites claimed in the initial rush. Scouts getting out into the world was huge.

The new Old World GOTW is about to drop, so I did a quicker game with a medium map - Bay and 6 nations. Rome with Sulla. Spawn in the middle, on a large promontory into said bay. Was blocked by Hatti/Babylon at the base. So a speed rush to Navigation and take to the seas was needed.

Reroll of the Persia game results in a win, fairly easy one at that. Did not like the strategic situation of being so "long and narrow" Piggybacked of the Babylonians attacking Egypt to seize their capital. (sorry orange and red look so alike) Really did not get to see that much of the map.
