Yeah, like, might as well take the free compute for a ride while you can. Their big problem right now is also that everyone is catching up from behind for cheaper, so if/when the investment bubble pops you will probably still be able to fall back to Qwen 6 or whatever.

One thing I'm not sure is widely recognized is that a huge percentage of AI compute is basically subsidizing people to use it for silly tasks in very inefficient ways. this is sort of like when Uber was cheaper than taxis, except it's more like hiring an Uber to go down to the corner store and back.

I know they don't break this down publicly (AFAIK), I have $20 Claude pro for technical tasks. basically lasts all month. I maxed out + bought $5 in tokens, Claude blew through it in maybe 5 minutes piecework tokens are reportedly underpriced! so how much is Anthropic losing on *subscriptions*??
