My kitty loves to exacerbate this by doing what I call "Polite Scratchies" (lightly rubbing her clawtips over things instead of scratching) It's nice for the like 2 pieces of furniture I care about but I've no idea where she learned that! It's sweet but I'd rather her claws not get overgrown!

Here's a comment describing the proposal's purpose in much less legalese, for those having a hard time parsing it!

A screenshot of one of the proposal's comments. It reads:

"I want to first express my appreciation to the Federal Reserve Board for bringing this proposal forward. I think it is very important to regulate banks and payment processors to ensure that they are not able to forcibly influence economic action by simply being able to impose their own rules upon the American people as if they are a governmental entity themselves.

I worry that companies such as Visa, MasterCard, and PayPal have such a vicegrip on the levers of our economy that anything their executives deem distasteful could very easily become banned regardless of actual legality. Today, it's transactions of media that many would find distasteful, but is also legal. Tomorrow, deals could be struck that favor one company in a particular market over another, leading to additional fees or an altogether prohibition by refusing to allow their payment processors to be used to purchase competing products. This is a very dangerous amount of power we have allowed these corporations to wield and it should be curbed as soon as possible.

The legality of purchases should be decided exclusively by democratically elected officials to
government, not a handful of executives in board rooms. Thank you very much for bringing this proposal forward and for allowing comments. This issue is extremely important."

Oh my goodness she's smaller than my little old lady! (~6.5-7 pounds)

Two cats, a gray cornish rex and a tabby, curled up together. the tabby is about twice the size of the rex.

(Ah, finished typing again before I saw this!) Parasocial relationships are definitely their own can of worms! I've seen it wreak some STRANGE havoc. It's a subject I have conflicting feelings about that that I'd have to brainstorm how to phrase - but I'm glad people are becoming more aware of it.

I do get a glimpse of that older style of fun and hype when Art Fight comes around though! And IRL when I went to cons pre-covid. I've been a little scared to check them out since though. I think a lot of it comes down to places that encourage more one-on-one/small group discussion.

Oooh I imagine! I caught the tail end of Deviantart's popularity but that's about it. Insta was my first "serious" profile and Reels have just morphed it into Tiktok (or I imagine, I used TT for maybe a week?). I've just been floating around looking for a way to post art that feels fun since then.

Granted, my experiences aren't universal. People on here certainly talk like they've had better luck making connections through comments/threads. On the topic of bothering people, sorry for putting an essay in your guys' replies aha!

(At least on Instagram and, I'd assume, TikTok.) The only (VERY niche!) places I've been able to have real conversations online over the past few years have been older MMOs/their fanmade reboots, even on Discord it can feel like the loudest people just talk past everyone in larger servers.

As an older Gen Z - yeahhhh I do kinda feel like I'm bothering people if I talk TO them as a stranger. And it feels like putting a spotlight on yourself if someone with A Platform responds, which is kinda mortifying. Posting publicly is LOUD! It feels like it has to be a statement For Everyone.

I REALLY need to close my artstation account dude all it does is get me scam emails!!! I feel like a jerk but I always bring up payment & payment methods as soon as possible in a commission conversation PURELY to weed out fake brand ambassador scams/pay-with-check scams/"exposure"

Adding onto watercolors, you can also get a watercolor pen (a brush pen you can fill with water) and a cheap watercolor palette and it'll be much easier to control than standard watercolors!

Oiuugghh I need to look for old internet-style blogs I wanna make one for my art so I'm not tied down to a social media website - and I also want it as an in-character creative writing exercise with my sona! I've never been good at writing in first person though, I always feel like it sounds forced.

OH WAIT I SHOULD SPECIFY. by "the election" I mean the 2020 election. Instagram hashtags have been in the trenches for a minuteeee

👁️ Catte - COMMISSIONS OPEN! 👁️ @cattestrophic.bsky.social · 17/04/2025

(the tag thing even sucks for niche topics and fandoms - you'd think less posts overall = easier to be a top post but no! the top posts will stay the same forever and it'll all just be Pinterest reposts and people who drew a thing once 7 years ago and have a large following)

110

👁️ Catte - COMMISSIONS OPEN! 👁️ @cattestrophic.bsky.social · 17/04/2025

It's been unusable ever since they nuked tags for the election - they never restored full functionality and you can only see the top posts anywhere, be it individual hashtags or the explore page. There's no way to search for small artists anymore 😔

This happens soooo much when I'm looking for new music as well, the album/cover art will be completely AI generated and I'll just keep scrolling regardless of how good the song may be. I promise, a stock image with some text slapped on will be infinitely less of an instant deterrent.

I want to keep making art and I want to be a bright spot for at least a few people, I try not to vent or doompost since that's literally all my feed has been for months. I keep it to myself. I need to make art and I have to keep going because it'll feel so good to outlive these bumbling fuckheads-

It's almost always night time in my headworld, but I hate painting thrown shadows. I gave them sunny lights that last a long time and are easy to cycle. It's nice for my characters to have an on call light source too. It's a kind of ghost fire that doesn't produce heat, and can be stored still-lit.

A picture of a stone and mortor building with a wooden shingle roof, covered in patches of moss. That roof is doomed- but this is fantasy and I wanted to paint splotchy moss.
The building is an inn. Leaned on its wall are several long staffs with hooks on the end. The staffs are used to put up and take down lamps or bags filled with cat coals. Cat coals are plain pieces of coal that have been lit by a stray cat (they kiss it with their nose). Black cats are usually the magical ones, but I think it would be cute if it took an orange one to light a coal.
Strays in the way are all spirits, and can also possess objects if they're inclined, producing a blue fire. They can't manipulate objects, only light them up. Jacky's arm is probably full of the same kind of fire, but it isn't possessed by any cats. It's fallout from being struck by lightning during a storm made of cat spirits.

I've used the artist name 'Snake' for most of my life at this point. Completely forgot I had a little snake mascot around 2007 for a short while. I've decided to update the design for fun. Hand-animated it, because it felt more entertaining. Still trying to workshop a name.
