Wow. @ootslibrary.bsky.social and Guelph Pride went all out this year. By far the biggest Pride in the Park yet. Fantastic to run into @leanneguelph.bsky.social and @cathydowner.bsky.social. Also happy to hand out Pride Ride leftovers from @bicyclemayorguelph.bsky.social. Happy Pride!

The Spring Bloom Ride brought together 5 kids, 11 adults, and Ward 1 councillor @caton.bsky.social for a slow roll last week. The kids made quick friends, took on little-but-important jobs along the way, and had two playground pit stops for play and some strategic chaos management. #BikeSky

The lower photo shows riders, including a child on a small bike, biking along a quiet residential street. A soft map background, pink magnolia illustration, and BYCS Guelph logo are included.

Not all school is just lecture, book & test. There’s labs, equipment & hands on skills in many disciplines. Not all learners do well with remote. There’s lots of reasons in person education will persist. It’s not our property, we can’t dictate market. As of now, we need homes for students too.

Ah. I believe that with bachelor up to three bedroom units, that this development is intended for all type of students. Many who go to Conestoga have families. It would not sit empty if there was a lack of students. A lot of school requires hands on though.

By “ghetto” do you mean affordable housing? Because we need both student housing and affordable housing. Housing that people can afford so they are not homeless would make Guelph amazing. Moralizing poverty is a bad call.

At the top of the image, text reads: "NEW REPORT: ONTARIO OMBUDSMAN REPORTS ON THE USE OF PSYCHIATRIC INSTITUTIONALIZATION FOR PEOPLE LABELLED WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES. Below the image, text reads: This Report supports what disabled people and their families have said for decades: Disabled People are over-medicated, under-supported, and suffering behind the locked walls of psychiatric institutions for months and years at a time. Current efforts to expand adult institutionalization through large-scale group homes will not address these concerns and recent legislation, like Bill 17, will only intensify institutionalization and violence against us.

Caton says its a numbers game; the City is proposing to build 12 units for $3.4 million (in next item) and this save affordable units for a simple $311k. They feel that we can get at a bylaw pretty quickly and with rapidly rising rents in Guelph, we need this now.
