Good call, but also we’ve returned to a time when people think there won’t be consequences for this kind of behavior and I don’t like it at all.

This Friday Fondren Public will host a 9 to 5 Day event in celebration of Dolly Parton. We will be enjoying her art and raising funds for the Imagination Library. It’ll be a great pre event for the Mississippi Book Festival, come hang out in Jackson!

Over the last year there have been a few breaking English Premier League stories sourced by social media posts from a player’s barber. (Remember the Cucurella one 🤣). I don’t think we’ve seen that from people working for US professional athletes so we must be training our barbers better.

Catherine Lee @catmo14.bsky.social · 25/08/2026

Listen to all the Dolly music and watch all of her movies and shows. (I also highly recommend Dumplin on Netflix, which is all about how Dolly still inspires us in grief.) But don’t forget to donate to the Imagination Library if you can.

It has to be reiterated, nothing about the anti-trans movement is actually designed to or resulting in women being “protected.”

My mom has 9 siblings we have several nephew/cousin relatives and a bunch of cousins who aren’t actually relatives. No family tree needed, just a heap of Scottish Irish Catholics.

For those not familiar with the UEFA/FIFA power struggle, know that FIFA gets a lot of its power by currying favor with a lot of small countries in struggling federations. But UEFA as a moderately sized (by member countries) federation generates by far the most revenue. This is important to track.

In a perfect world LeBron would have to go to Memphis.

Yeah only thing I’ll add to what has already been shared is that football is by far the most popular sport in England. Imagine if all the sports talent we had in the state did one thing instead of all the different sports we play and support. The next most popular sport in the UK is cricket.

This will raise common discussion in sports media about how and when to play through injuries. Only the athletes can make that choice. But it is also true that fans put high value on tough. And the tough bar is probably Lucy Bronze playing with a broken tibia for the whole Euros in 2025.

One of my friends used to provide therapy for JPS elementary schools and she had to travel all over Jackson to work it was a lot.

They are required to provide speech language services for kids diagnosed with special needs but I know from friends that school systems meet the requirements in different ways. Some have full time staff in house. Less resourced districts have contract employees that usually work in multiple schools.

This is the biggest point to make. It’s so hard to know what teams like Iran and Senegal went through during their WC experience and stomach the buddy relationship between the FIFA and USA presidents. I’m guilty of being jaded about these issues but there needs to be an IOC investigation.

000

Catherine Lee @catmo14.bsky.social · 06/07/2026

I wish we could all save time and energy by not pretending there is some sort of moral high ground to be found in this red card suspension situation. But we can’t so we’re gonna get 12 hours of bad takes then watch an entertaining soccer game anyway.

The people who said I was too good to be a girl when I was a kid were the same ones accusing Latino kids of having doctored their birth certificates to play on younger teams. It’s the same damn thing over and over.

Sadio Mane will always be one of my favorite soccer players, insanely talented and always seemed like a superior teammate. Senegal’s goal is a great example of both qualities. Love to see it.

One of the greatest gifts this tournament has brought us has been the invitation and duty to learn about African football. The men and women footballers need the world's attention and are commanding respect. You can not deny the passion, talent or history.

Miguel Almiron will be remembered in soccer history books for being the first player to be carded for both the mistaken identity rule and for covering his mouth while talking to an opposing player. Not a great World Cup showing for him.
