For those not familiar with the UEFA/FIFA power struggle, know that FIFA gets a lot of its power by currying favor with a lot of small countries in struggling federations. But UEFA as a moderately sized (by member countries) federation generates by far the most revenue. This is important to track.

This is the biggest point to make. It’s so hard to know what teams like Iran and Senegal went through during their WC experience and stomach the buddy relationship between the FIFA and USA presidents. I’m guilty of being jaded about these issues but there needs to be an IOC investigation.

I think if FIFA were a functioning regulatory body it would fine USSF for all instances of border detainment or entry denial without substantiation. When you bid to host you make a commitment to host. This is not some weird grey area issue.
