I so miss my Farberware percolator! It lasted about 20 years, has since been replaced by a series of lesser coffeemakers. (Except for my double walled stainless coffee press - that baby is the bomb)

I liked the slower pace of rx burns...and wished I could keep working wildfire/controlled fire year round. It felt like a break. But North Idaho fires aren't the same as CA fires so it makes sense that CalFire folks are burned out by the end of fire season.

I don't get why regular wildland firefighters aren't doing the prescribed burns in the off-season instead of developing a dedicated rx burn team. Do CalFire wildland firefighters work year-round? Do you know if that's that why?

Friday Sept. 4 at approximately 10:30 p.m. I broke a rib coughing from the respiratory infection I caught in Chicago. It was the infection from hell. Had to take loved one to the ER from the complications he was experiencing so I feel like I got off lucky?

The first time I cook it, I follow the recipe exactly. After that I make changes based on how things tasted the first time around or what ingredients I have on hand.

I highly recommend making the potato chowder recipe your own. It's okay as written but I brown the potatoes with the bacon and onion for a little bit before adding enough broth to cover (instead of water) and simmer longer than 5 minutes, add more pepper...and garnish with cheddar.

Lol, yes it was the picture taking and posting that pushed me over the edge. I'm on Day 26 of this nonsense and it's gonna take a lot more time for it to heal. It's in a super awkward spot along the underwire, yay! Tylenol and ibuprofen don't even touch the pain. However I need to stop whining.

Only got three soups cooked yesterday because a broken rib absolutely sucks. I exist, it hurts. Breathing, coughing, sneezing, talking, rolling over in bed, moving my arms...everything. I can do this, right?! One more soup today, then the Taco Soup later in the week.

I'm with you on soups! For so long I was limited on freezer space but we 'inherited' a nice standing freezer. Having a varied selection in the freezer feels really comforting. I posted the recipes under my original post. Happy to share, Loved One found most online.

After the tomatoes, onions, garlic and goat cheese are roasted, they get pureed with an immersion blender. Made this soup last year and froze it but don't remember the consistency when it defrosted, tho. I'll post the recipes next time I get a break, officer...thank you for issuing only a warning.
