The heirs of Hugo Simon, a Jewish banker who fled Nazi Germany, first approached the Folkwang Museum about this Franz Marc painting in 2007. Three research projects later, the museum says there is not enough evidence it was lost due to Nazi persecution to return it. www.nytimes.com/2026/02/17/a...
