Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 17hYou should see their genitals. Whoooo boy! Need an adaptor 010
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 18hTotally. To my mind it would make less sense if they DIDN’T divert to it 020
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 18hIt’s the term used in County Cavan (Ireland) when your aural organ is sore 1220
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 07/10/2026#booksof2026 #40 well this was GREAT fun. Proper page turner. Set in an Ireland I almost knew. 000
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 06/10/2026#booksof2026 #39 one of these complicated plots that keep you completely engaged, but immediately forgotten afterwards 100
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 05/10/2026In fairness, they could put them down the middle in West Waterford and they’d be in no danger from me 010
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Sorry folks, but having considered things from all angles, I have to conclude that this good boy, Bundí, is the best dog in Ireland. 🏆 YesyouareyesyouareyouareSUCHagooddog 001
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 28/09/2026I assumed it was an intelligence point, used to try and paint Ireland and the Irish as antisemites? I’m just amazed they haven’t brought the whole DeValera condolencegate 000
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 26/09/2026This is how history will record this. Shame on our government, on the FAI, and on anyone who is pressuring anyone to play this game. #FAI #stopthegame 031
Reposted by Cathal ReillyConor @ernekid.bsky.social · 26/09/2026I’m disappointed in the players but I’m furious with the FAI and the Irish government to let it get this far. 2304
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 26/09/2026I don’t envy any of them given where they find themselves, but they’ve made the worst possible decision. Their protests will cause the FAÍ and possibly themselves to be disciplined anyway, so why not just pull out? Have to believe there’s been huge pressure put on them to play. #FAI #stopthegame 050
Reposted by Cathal ReillyCiara | Ciaraíoch 🎨 @ciaraioch.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Fair play to Bazunu for putting his head above the parapet and trying. Shame on the FAI. 440270
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 26/09/2026If the Irish team pull out and stay together, they will be far greater heroes and examples than they could ever have been on the pitch. It might even be an action that would break the dam. Have courage lads, we’re all behind you. #FAI 0208
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 26/09/2026It’s one of those mar dhea things that people just have to come to in their own time, like the Tooth Fairy, or proctologists 011
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 25/09/2026IF IF IF IF the UI discussion is messed up, and a UI leaves a large minority disadvantaged, it will fail, so that’s what I’ll be attempting to avoid. If we can’t even agree on that, we have no common ground. I’ll move on. Good luck, I hope everything works out well for you. Slán, GRMA 100
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Where did I mention anything like that? If a UI is IMPOSED on an unwilling minority, then it will fail. Can we agree that much? And if that’s so, then it needs to be thrashed out with those MOST unwilling? No? 100
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 25/09/2026People who are saying *what*? I said leaving a minority disadvantaged etc would be a mistake, and you call me “ignorant”?? Name-calling the first time you ever speak to me doesn’t say much for your powers of tolerance 🙂 100
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Equal citizens in *what*? I am a nationalist in the South, no-one has ever asked me éither what form I think a new NI or UI should take. You’re saying *what*? That nationalists don’t want a UI? That they need *what*? If it’s that they don’t want a UI at ‘any’ price, then they’re saying same as me 100
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Yep, that’s the key. LEARN from what happened, don’t repeat it. But there hasn’t been real discussion of what will require changing to make a UI work, even amongst those most in favour. Look at modern Germany, and the incredible differences between former É and W. It’s so much more than a map line 010
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 25/09/2026If a UI requires thinkpieces etc amongst *nationalists* in the North, then why is it being discussed at all? I hope for a UI, always have, but not at ‘any’ price. To impose arrangements that leave a large minority disenfranchised, discriminated against, unwelcome, that’s just NI 2.0 100
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 25/09/2026#booksof2026 #38 expected this to be a page flipper of no substance, but it’s better than that. A good plot and decent characterisation. 100
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 25/09/2026#booksof2026 #37 I enjoyed this early on, and then got tired of it (but had to finish). Not sure, other than “Page-Turner” what the author was going for, but it came across as a borderline racist lovesong to American ‘exceptionalism’. 100
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 25/09/2026#booksof2026 #36 June O’Sullivan’s “The Lighthouse Keeper’s wife”. This is not a book to fall asleep to. Dark story, tightly written. 100
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 25/09/2026#booksof2026 #35 Georges Simenon’s “The Strangers in the house”. Bloody hell, glad I picked this up. Lovely thick writing, and a good story. 100
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 23/09/2026That was it, thanks. She was great in “I spit on your grave” too, was that a sitcom? 110
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 23/09/2026Nope. South America comprises the southern states of what’s called the US and A. It’s where the Civil War was set, between the Roundyheads and the Slaves. They were all called Spartacus, including my wife. 000
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 23/09/2026No, you’re thinking of “Nuns on the Run”, with Robbie Coltrane and Eric Idle. Idle plays a guy who is crucified alongside our Lord Jesus H Christ. I can’t remember the name of Robbie’s part, but it’s a cracker. 100
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 22/09/2026#booksof2026 #34 10 times I wanted to put this down, but didn’t. It *just* kept me engaged, mainly because of the quality of the writing. 100
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 22/09/2026#booksof2026 #33 i picked this up blindly, assuming it was a novel - it isn’t. But it was still good. 100

Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 22/09/2026#booksof2026 #31 an interesting read, but felt like a bit of a missed opportunity. 100
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 22/09/2026#booksof2026 #30 another Sedaris, but I’d already read most of this writing in other places 100
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 22/09/2026#booksof2026 #29 how can you not like David Sedaris? This writing was what launched him I believe, and it’s easy to see why 100
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 22/09/2026#booksof2026 #28 went after this after reading Sedaris, but this didn’t match up. 100
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 22/09/2026#booksof2026 #27 I love Damien’s books, and I was really tooting for the characters here. Great stuff, funny and emotive. 100
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 22/09/2026#booksof2026 #26 well this was a change, and I ate it up. Couldn’t *quite* follow the ending, but what a trip 100
Cathal Reilly @cathalreilly.bsky.social · 22/09/2026#booksof2026 #25 thirsty to know more about Rory, what drives him, how he copes with everything, but this didn’t scratch the itch. Read more like a journalist with a gripe, cashing in. Annoying. 100

But he’s Steffi Graf’s partner, and I really like her, so gave this a go. A great decision. What a brilliant read! And a complete reversal of what I thought of him. Interesting life, profession, family. Loved it! 100
