oh there was a fantastic shadow on the wall last night

A dark wall with a bright greyish rectangle where light shines in, casting vivid shadows of a pelargonium aand the tail of a wind chime into the bright rectangle. The pelargonium leaves are projecting on long stems because frankly it's getting leggy. The wind chime tail might be a stylized Chinese character, possibly shòu (longevity)?

The overall effect is reminiscent of East Asian ink painting traditions. The bottom of the rectangle is the leaves and the upper right has the maybe-shòu character. The texture of the glass window gives the rectangle a faintly striated, organic look, like water wash or paper fibers. This was such a lovely thing to suddenly notice.

I need more corrugated plastic gas station stand-up adverts so I can make three more skellies so they can do the bone dance because that would be the most bitchin' Halloween decoration

This is a roughly six foot tall skeleton I made by cutting out bone, ribs, skull, and pelvis shapes from corrugated plastic. I wired them together with pieces of metal hangers, and painted small hand and foot bones, ribs, and skull openings. Skelly's head isn't well attached so he's currently holding it in his right hand. It's all wired against a tall garden trellis so today Skelly is standing in a flower patch. I've been moving Skelly every day LOL.

i got through half that job i was gretzing about last night, and when i lost focus instead of pushing on, i decided to reward myself by fucking around with paint. i don't know how to use watercolors lol

A sheet of paper is taped off on an art board. The upper left corner of the paper has a tiny painting of the aurora borealis last year. I'm working from a photo on my phone. There's a small paint palette at the bottom, and a stained cotton pad at the top. The painted corner has lots of dabbled marks where I was, quite frankly, drawing with the brush instead of painting with it. The sky is bright neon pinks and purples, and the foreground, such as it is, is rendered in water soluble pencil.

FOSS, blessings and curses of: craptastic icons

The icon for Libre Office is a plain white rectangle with a dark grey border. the upper right corner is all dark, maybe to suggest a folded corner of paper? I don't know what it's supposed to be. This icon is too plain to communicate anything. Within the context of an individual application you might see this to suggest new document, but as the icon for the entire office suite, it's terrible.

I cropped out the handle anyway but if this is a real human being, he's sure nailed posting like a bot. The "manner of death, perhaps" tag is stunt plane crash. The reply was to a post about that plane from Dubai to Tel Aviv where the pilots got into an apparent fight to the death, until the passengers saved one pilot and wrangled the aggressor? It sounds complicated, I'm not sure.

A lovely mess of four kinds of peppers, half a bowl of cherry tomatoes, and six colorful ears of field corn harvested from the garden and spread over the table. Only the peppers and tomatoes went into the sauce.

I know the focus is on the food but I'm sooo curious what's going on with this little tree that seems to live in a bowl of water. I need a large branch or small tree to see how long they can go in water without a root system. I've kept twigs in flower vases but this is so large, I love it

another constant, daily problem with 26: on the 13 mini the screen displays shit like this

The bluesky bottom nav bar floats up over the skeets you're looking at. This screenshot was from January 2026 but this is still a problem. Many websites have issues like this now. It seems like apple deliberately phased out proper rendering support in safari for the smaller screen models. I don't know and frankly I don't give a shit about finding out. It's not my problem to fix.
