Wellington update: Fixed "No bikes" warnings for express train trips. This is a bit of a hack but should work for a while.

Shhhh soft launch for my Auckland friends: auckland.catchy.nz is ready, and has apps for Android play.google.com/store/apps/d... and iOS apps.apple.com/nz/app/catch... Still some teething issues, please report anything gnarly. Fingers crossed that AT let me keep data running all week!

Catchy is slower than it should be lately, but I am hoping I can fix it soon. Please send positive thoughts to my database.

Catchy @catchy.nz · 16/09/2026

I made some emergency changes yesterday to fix a live issue and accidentally broke favorites. This should be fixed now. Really really sorry!

000

Catchy @catchy.nz · 07/09/2026

I think I know what this is, assuming the tablet is large? I have a fix in the backlog for this issue.

All apps have been updated with new map styles and a bunch of improvements for handling situations that don't happen a lot. So bascially, new maps! Enjoy

120

Catchy @catchy.nz · 12/08/2026

Also completely replaced the way that Catchy Wellington persists live data, but this really only matters to me. Catchy is getting popular and hitting provider limits!

000

Catchy @catchy.nz · 12/08/2026

Small update today: • Added an option to order favourites by how ‘Nearby’ they are • Made maps load less data on first load and sped up map performance • Fixed alert generation for Christchurch stops • Fixed a bug with map draggability on the trip page

AT has a two business WEEK response time noted on their feedback forms by the way. Not resolution, response. A conversation with two responses from AT can take a month.

Auckland is back up again for a few days if anyone would like to try it. Still waiting for more access.

110

Catchy @catchy.nz · 16/06/2026

Currently testing early access for an Auckland Catchy. auckland.catchy.nz It's pretty complete except AT limits data access in a way that means it can't run all week, yet. Assuming we can come to an agreeent, it will be released with mobile apps soon!

They just act as a shortcut link to the app. There’s no way to have good, timely data in anything that's a ‘widget’ because of the rules around how often they can query the internet.

000

Catchy @catchy.nz · 13/06/2026

Yes, I had to do a pretty large update for iOS 26 and the complications didn't make it across. They should be back in the next update (next weekish).

Catchy? more like Patchy. There were some issues with Catchy overnight that I have now fixed. Everything should be better than ever, sorry for the disruption.

Catchy now has a matching Wear OS app to go with the existing Apple Watch app. Companion apps are available for all regions. play.google.com/store/apps/d... This has been possible thanks to a large assist from Reilly. He wrote about his process here www.proredcat.xyz/blog/catchy-...

Great news for wrists. Catchy companion apps now available for Apple Watch and Android Wear

This should be fixed now. Can you please let me know if it is not?

000

Catchy @catchy.nz · 14/04/2026

Hi there. I am trying to track this issue down. I think it might have been an issue with the map provider but I will keep digging into it. Thanks for reporting.

Catchy @catchy.nz · 03/04/2026

No helped by the realtime info on bus replacement routes being incomplete (all buses are empty and heading due north).

Full failure of Catchy Chch this morning, very sorry about that. Data has been fixed and update process updated to make it less likely to happen again.

Snuck this in last week but it seems stable: Recent Departures You can see the last 5 trips up to 5 minutes in the past for your stop. This is useful when you want to: • see if you just missed a bus • follow your trip on the map but have already departed Feedback welcomed, do try it.

Demo of how to enable Recent Departures feature. Tap on More options icon (triple dot) on stop screen, then 'Show Recent Departures' in the menu to toggle the feature on.

New feature: Timetable view From stop pages, tap the Departures label above the date to switch to Timetable view. Use the < and > to cycle through days to see available trips on each day. Timetable view is accurate for available dates, including public holidays, and respects saved filters. Enjoy!
