Ok, ok. Last hide of the season! This is an abandoned concept I carved up but didn't have time to pursue. This hide location felt fitting for my seahorse! Lol #monkeyshines2026

Last coin! I tried to come up with a fitting place to stash my last coin and couldn't come up with anything better than a nod to the pony express! Plus with that view... #monkeyshines2026

This horse hates Mondays and loves lasagna and short trails to the left in a tree at the top of the first stairs... #monkeyshines2026

Everyone's out of the hot tub, rinsed, filed, and brushed. Allow me to introduce my hides for this season! These are Celtic silver horse coin replicas. The Treveri coin (~50 BC) is on the left, the Iceni coin (~50 AD) is on the right. #monkeyshines2026

Treveri (left, 80-50 BC) and Iceni (right, 20-50 AD) horse coins. The Treveri lived in Germany/Belgium, while the Iceni hail from Norfolk, England. Both have Celtic roots.

Full set of horse coins, drying after cleaning.

It's not the straw that stirs the drink, but it is the graphite rod that scrapes the dross? Not quite the same ring to it...

Caster Monkey @castermonkey.bsky.social · 11/02/2026

As the graphite chunks all over will tell you, horses are apparently stubborn!

I had to simplify a bit this year, but I'm pretty happy with the designs I'm rolling with. Not quite ready to show them off in full, but I'm getting too antsy not to do a little sneak peek! #monkeyshines2026

New crucible, who dis? I've got some patching to do on the furnace before I get on to casting, but the refractory cement is in hand. Getting closer now!

Our last find for the weekend was one of my bucket list official rogues by Kathryn Traxler Anderson! We found her dragon print last year and bought a magpie print from her. Such fantastic work! #monkeyshines2025

What an awesome day! We found an official Grant rogue and a medallion this morning! We agonized for a while over which glass to keep, but we wound up re-hiding this one. We're feeling super grateful today. 😊 #monkeyshines2025
