Progress on "The Caucus Race", Alice in Wonderland #embroidery Trying to make each animal distinct and stand out against the sand and water that will be stitched in. 🧶🪡🧵

The reality on homesteads is that what they largely did was (a) plant a large amount of cash crop and (b) plant a smaller kitchen garden. If your cash crop came in, most of it would get sold, which would then get traded for machinery / subsistence food to make it through winter.

I started a whole chicken simmering in the crock pot 24 hours ago. I forgot it overnight, so everything but the breasts I'd removed and refrigerated was far too cooked to eat, but the broth is, of course, amazingly flavorful. It's wonderfully rich and delicious. #soup #comfortfood #food 🍜

Seed sourdough (Recipe from "The Perfect Loaf" by Maurizio Leo) Room for improvement exists in my own method but it turned out well and is SO tasty. #bread #sourdough #food ‧𓍢ִ໋ ׂ 🍜𓈒 ⋆ ۪

Sliced wheat/rye/white blend sourdough filled with toasted sesame seeds and a mix of black and white sesame seeds. Bread is sliced and arranged in an artful spiral to show the crumb.

Dough speckled with sesame and sunflower seeds that is shaped in round balls resting on butcher block.
