#AutumnRepost Day 2: Serious | Silly "Joy and Discontent" by TheLittlestHimbo archiveofourown.org/works/538026... Haurchefant has a serious discussion with his older brother, and has a hard time wrangling a silly chocobo (intended as a gift for the Warrior of Light - but she *hates* him.)

Joy and Discontent
TheLittlestHimbo
Summary:
"What must the life of the maid who remains in Limsa be, for all the days her love is not by her side? Has she pursuits to occupy her, to keep her hands busy, to keep her thoughts from ever drifting back to the dangers that lurk in the depths? If the sea were to swallow her dearest one, would she carry on, fulfilled despite her heartbreak?"

While the Warrior of Light goes to his work in Western Coerthas, a restless Haurchefant Greystone takes up a new challenge: training a flying steed as a present for his love. But despite his best intentions, things go awry. Will a strange visit from his brother Artoirel rouse him from this bout of melancholy, or send him spiralling into uncertainty?

Notes:
Set during the Artoirel and Emmanellain quests at the start of Heavensward. Part of a series that has chronicled this romance so far, beginning in ARR. Two chapters this time!

I've never really linked many of my stories from here, so maybe #AutumnRepost is a good opportunity! Day 1: Dream "Dreams and Oaths" by TheLittlestHimbo (SFW) archiveofourown.org/works/50645008 Flames are rekindled and dreams intertwined for Haurchefant and the Warrior of Light.

Summary:
"Have I changed, these past cold years, as Camp Dragonhead became less a posting and more a home? I have dug myself in here, Lord of the greatest crossing of Coerthas, watching over every caravan; that Ishgard may have all that it needs to thrive, even in these trying times. Have I room to want something that endures?"

When an old friend finally returns, now much grown in esteem and renown, Haurchefant Greystone is not prepared for how easily their prior flame is rekindled - nor how their lives and oaths and dreams become intertwined.

Notes:
Set during ARR patch quests (which - in their current state, at least - I think are pretty great.) See the first story in the series, Light and Warmth, for their initial bonding and (what they assumed at the time would be) a one-night stand.

I mean, I'll be happy to enjoy it however you feel like posting it. Threading over multiple days can sometimes be weird on bluesky though so it may be better to do it all at once? But I am *not* an expert so don't take my word on that, haha.

This was my first year! I had heard about it before, I don't really know quite why I decided I would do it this year. I think I just happened to think about it at the right time, and was in a frame of mind where I wanted a little help with creative inspiration. It was really helpful and fun!

I'm really glad I did this. It felt a bit like NaNoWriMo used to (RIP). But with prompts revealed each day, and no word count goals, it gave me both inspiration for new stories and opportunities to brainstorm and plot out existing ones. It was also fun finding community again through fandom!

So, this year was my first #FFXIVwrite ever! I completed all 26 prompts on time (using a make-up day for one of them). Stats: Around 30k words, so an average word count of about 1,100 words per writing day! Highest day: 3,255 Lowest day: 213 You can definitely see how I was losing steam, haha.

A line graph showing, from left to right, word count stats over 26 writing days. Extremely variable, with lower wordcounts trending more commonly in the last third of the month.

Skeb style comm for @cassaclyzm.bsky.social of their WOL and Haurchefant. Thank you for commissioning me! #FFXIV #FF14 #HaurcheWOL #Commission #SoupArt

Sketchlike drawing commission of a miqo'te (a catlike race from the game Final Fantasy XIV) Warrior Of Light, and Haurchefant, (a male elezen NPC from the same game) sitting together on what seems to be the ground. The miqo'te is looking fondly over at Haurchefant with fondness in his eyes while the latter excitedly talks about something or other. The two sit pressed together, the miqo'te's tail wrapped around Haurchefant's forearm in affection.
