When I noticed Cinder’s sternum seemed distended, my blood ran cold, and I knew that I had to seek answers sooner rather than later. That was the first symptom that we noticed in my late dog Lexi before she passed away suddenly of congestive heart failure in 2024 and it’s been my worst fear since.

It was a false alarm, Cinder doesn’t have fluid build up in her chest, the lumps are benign and her bloodwork came back perfect. The vet said she looks and acts like a puppy. The bill is covered. My baby girl is going to be just fine, and with any luck we should have many more happy years together.

Good morning, everyone! Thanks to your donations, we have been able to schedule Cinder an appointment for an exam on Tuesday, 06/23/2026. Once she's been examined by the veterinarian, they’ll be able to provide us with a price estimate for further diagnostics. We are so grateful for your help. ♡

The first dose of Trazodone worked wonders, but every subsequent dose only seemed to make Maple more and more wired. Not good. We called the vet back on Monday to ask about alternatives, and he prescribed us Gabapentin, which Maple has reacted much more favorably to!

Unfortunately, Maple hasn't been coping with the anaesthesia or adjusting to crate rest as well as we had hoped. She's been experiencing quite a bit of distress and restlessness, so her surgeon faxed us out a prescription for Trazodone today to help her settle during initial healing.
