Labor has overwhelmingly won the remote voting booths and has gained the seat of Mulka. Yiwarr McGrath will be the new Labor MP for the remote seat in eastern Arnhem Land. Labor now holds 6 seats in the 25-member legislative assembly, while the CLP holds 17.

One Nation has won the Secret Harbour state by-election in Perth's south. Gym owner Luke Herdegen will represent the party in Western Australia's lower house, winning the seat which was previously held by Labor on an 11.5 per cent margin.

The addition of remaining postal votes in Stafford is likely to reduce the Labor margin, but there would need to be a *lot* of them to see the LNP win, and no one thinks there are enough out there. Labor has won Stafford.

The AEC is “urgently considering” its legal options over a sign outside a Farrer polling place that uses the AEC logo and carries an incomplete authorisation statement. AEC says it “has the potential to misrepresent the source of the corflute” and that it is investigating.

Nine candidates for the Queensland state seat of Stafford. Labor draws top spot, the LNP is at the bottom. Other than Katter's Australian Party which only contests seats in North Queensland, One Nation is the only registered party in Queensland that hasn't fielded a candidate.

The only doubt left in Morphett was over how many votes were remaining in the count. A small number were added today, and it seems clear Labor will win, giving it 34 seats in total, and leaving the Liberals with just one metro Adelaide seat.

The vast majority of votes left to be counted in Heysen are postals, and these are favouring Liberal Josh Teague who leads the count. He will retain his seat, giving the Liberals five seats. One Nation will win at most four, meaning the Liberals retain Opposition status in SA

The draft redistribution would see Clark extend a long way west and take on the parts of Franklin west of the Derwent, including the Huon Valley. Glenorchy would move from Clark to Lyons, pushing that seat further into Hobart.

I'd be surprised if Marielle Smith's motion passes, but... if such a rule were to be agreed, is it genuinely enforceable? I am not a lawyer but this feels vaguely kidnapping-adjacent? Would Black Rod have to prevent senators from walking out one of the chambers many doors?

loving this suggestion to remove the donkey vote advantage by printing ballots on round paper with a centre hole, and installing spindles into ballot booths to "facilitate spinning if needed". i suspect it will be deemed logistically impractical, but it would certainly make voting more whimsical
