If you look at the earliest text print ads before "advertising" and "copywriting" became a thing there's a vibe to them that's quite similar to AI flyers - enormous amounts of text to make sure all the available ad space is filled and every possible detail accounted for

I wish the lab grown people hadn't agreed to put a watermark on their diamonds which are indistinguishable from murder diamonds on a molecular level. They could have tanked that whole industry in a week. Diamonds are so stupid.

I am always struck by the ideological content of these songs though, even apart from what the words say. Every detail has something to say about priorities and the culture. That's the loudest fact about music like this to me. It's hagiographic status quo reinforcement by its very nature.

I have a student whose parents are big into this. They're really pushing it too-- video of the elf zip lining across the room to steal the cat food, etc. as a 52 year old, I don't get it.

As an autistic person, I find the whole idea of ASMR to be completely baffling. It's like voluntarily lowering yourself into a vat of acid. The whole experience is intolerable, even for 3 seconds.

Green room is good! But it's only good with an asterix, in that it is not good when stacked up against movies made by geniuses like The Shining, The Exorcist, The Thing. I'll tell you one I really really loved though is Devil's Rejects.

I think a large part of this is that horror movies are the hardest kind to do well. They always fail in the third act. This one sounds to me like a guy who didn't have the chops to make his good ideas pay off.

I had a friend who, at one stage of taylor swift mania, told me that he wouldn't even know how to go about hearing one of her songs. Mercifully, I think the world has an Adult switch that gets turned on at some point and you just don't cross paths with 95% of all contemporary media.

I think there 100% is. For me, country lasts from 1920- about 1982. Great songwriting, great vocal interpretation, great backing musicians, great instrument sounds.

You're right -- this is impossible. But it might just go toward supporting my theory that they don't let people who aren't conventionally attractive be in TV shows or movies or have singing careers. Or else everyone is hot, which might also be true.

Her short stories deserve to be in every ghost story anthology, regardless of audience. They're not just great children's ghost stories-- a really hard thing to write-- they're among the best ghost stories ever written by anybody.
