Saw this for the first time last night and have to say it's incredibly slept on. Great flick, with fantastic a villain and lots of dark mayhem.

A lot has and will be said about @danielkraus.com ANGEL DOWN, but having just finished it this afternoon, I wanted to jot down some thoughts. First off, I loved it. THREAD

And in true King fashion, when we stare into the void—a greaser stares back.

Rewatched THE DARK HALF last night and I have to say it might top my list of Stephen King adaptations. It's not an elevated classic like THE SHINING, but it does exactly what it sets out to do, totally unashamed of its genre leanings. An author's story... about an EVIL AUTHOR!

Pleased to be apart of this collection, edited by CM Muller. I’ve already been hearing some great things about the stories held within. Excited to curl up and experience some night terrors.

THE CORPSE PRIEST is a tale of bloody heroics and cosmic horror. Pick it up wherever you like to buy books.

THE RUINS by Scott Smith Depending on who you ask, this is a modern horror classic. And for whatever reason, I hadn't checked it out until recently. Not my usual bag, genre-wise, but great character work and excellent survival horror plotting.

ZONE ONE by Colson Whitehead The zombie novel doesn't have the same literary history as other monsters, so I was very interested in the idea of a high-literary take on the subgenre. Whitehead doesn't disappoint. Some of the absolute best prose I've read all year.

THE ORGANIZATION IS HERE TO SUPPORT YOU by Charlene Elsby Perhaps the funniest book I've read this year, in an acerbic sort of way. Pitch perfect corporate horror for remote working Ligotti fans. Disturbing, witty, and the perfect length.

REEF MIND by @hazelzorn.bsky.social Incredibly compelling eco-horror that makes for a dreamy and unsettling post-apocalypse. Zoran captured my imagination in the worst way, conjuring abhorrent dilemmas that felt like a natural, yet uncanny, escalation of the human condition.

IN THE WOODS by Tana French Perhaps the first truly literary thriller I've ever read. If you couldn't tell by now, I love complex (and unlikable!) characters, and this one delivers on that, but also has the thematic underpinnings to elevate it to a new level. This is pure art.

RAZORBLADE TEARS by S.A. Cosby A thrilling neo-noir entry into the "you fucked with the wrong guy" subgenre, that features complex characters that keep you turning pages. Absolutely devoured this one. Cosby has a way with his prose that feels so immediate and electric.

BAT EATER AND OTHER NAMES FOR CORA ZENG by Kylie Lee Baker Often times, I feel like a horror book does either the genre element or the craft element stronger than the other, but with BAT EATER, I felt Baker nailed both to such a degree, that it's easy to see why this one has resonated.

THE CELLAR BELOW THE CELLAR by @ivygrimes.bsky.social I love pretty much everything Ivy writes, but this might be my favorite yet. A fairy tale with challenging themes that feel truly collectivist, in a way that is almost alien to the average American. Lots of voice and relatable anxiety.

Carson Winter @carsonwinter.bsky.social · 02/08/2026
THE NOTHING MAN by Jim Thompson. I've been reading more of Thompson and loving it. This is a weird ass crime novel with a bizarre central character hook that is so bold, but also makes perfect sense.

THE RETURN by Rachel Harrison. Some of the most compelling characters and conflicts I've read in a long time. Harrison trusts her audience with being able to parse ambiguity, and to relate to people with real flaws. Fantastic.

I got my contributor copies of Thomas Ligotti’s “The Shadow, The Darkness” from Cadabra Records! Ligotti has been a huge influence on me and I’ve long loved Cadabra’s collabs with Ligotti and @grimscribepress.bsky.social. Being asked to write the liner notes was a massive honor.

SHELBY OAKS was one of the worst films I've ever seen. An insult to storytelling. It's like a movie made by someone who thinks "what if they had glowy eyes" was a premise. Complete lack of a plot, with a protagonist we don't give a shit about.

THE CORPSE PRIEST has been out for one month and I couldn't be happier with how many people picked it up. Sales are kind of a dirty word in the indie book sphere, but I thought it might be fun and informative to be a little transparent about where these sales came from and how. /THREAD
