Hahahahaaaaaaaaa
"You May Offend"

As you breathe, as you grow
As you ascend
You'll lose count of the fools
You may offend
Just by giving out the thoughts in your head
You may reach a point where some will wish you dead

Speech is free, so are we
I am assured
But too much rational thought
Needs to be cured
So suppress the facts that prey upon your mind
For the greater good of always being kind

That old street called tolerance
Runs both ways or makes no sense

As you breathe, as you grow
As you ascend
You'll lose count of the fools
You may offend
Just by giving out the thoughts in your head
You may reach a point where some will wish you dead

They're re-running the smacking bill bullshit playbook for the conversion therapy bill in England. Reads like a Daily Record editorial.
A flyer claiming that "Under the Conversion Practices Draft Bill parents can be criminalised, facing up to 5 years in prison, if they wish to help their children understand the difference between female and male, girl and boy."

"Ada, 4, loves nursery and the climbing frame, where she climbs highest in class, but struggles to sit still. Her teacher has convinced her she must be a boy, as only boys climb and cannot sit still.
The draft Conversion Bill allows the teacher to accuse Ada's mum of conversion practice for telling Ada she is a girl."

"Clare rings her mother from university and asks "Am l a woman?" Her mother replies "Of course you are." Clare's best friend overhears and believes the mother is trying to make Clare deny her transgender identity.
Under the Draft Conversion Bill the friend can report the mother for abusive language."

"Naomi, 13, feels she is trans' and asks her mother for money for a breast binder. Her mother knows she is distressed by her developing breasts (and comments from boys at school) and would like to discuss Naomi's discomfort with her breasts instead.
Is this coercive control? The draft Conversion Practices Bill would let Naomi claim it is."

"Hayden, who is autistic, lives rent-free with his mum and spends all his time online. He begins identifying as a 'trans girl' and occasionally goes out dressed up in female clothes. His mum checks his browser history, is horrified, confronts him and tells him to get a job.
Hayden reports his mum for using economic pressure as an abusive conversion practice."

This is an example of the herald being poisonous again today. It’s very clear what it wants the non-readers of X to take away from the post.

I've ranted about this many times, I know, but the one that really bugs me is the fake Hunter S Thomson quote about the music business that's endlessly shared. What he actually wrote is in the image.
The TV business is uglier than most things. It is normally perceived as some kind of cruel and shallow money trench through the heart of the journalism industry, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free and good men die like dogs, for no good reason.
Which is more or less true. For the most part, they are dirty little animals with huge brains and no pulse.

I wrote about Bring It On too! From Carrie Kills A Man, image with alt text.
"In 2000, Kirsten Dunst starred in Bring It On, a lightweight, inconsequential comedy about rival cheerleaders. It's set in San Diego with a few good lines, one very good sight gag, some good choreography, a lot of very pretty young women and a thoroughly average and probably overly generous 63% rating from Rotten Tomatoes. I was a little bit obsessed with it. Not obsessed enough to buy any of the straight-to-DVD sequels, but obsessed nevertheless.

The appeal of Bring It On isn't hard to explain. It features a lot of impossibly good-looking young women bouncing around in cheerleader outfits for quite a lot of the time. As a person who's attracted to women, that works for me. But it also worked on a much deeper level, because while I wasn't deluded enough to think I could ever look like Kirsten Dunst, there was a really big part of me that really wished I could. I was back to the Littlewoods catalogues of my youth, torn between attraction and identification. I wanted to see Kirsten Dunst, and I wanted to be her."

My (Lib Dem) MP has replied to my email about the Supreme Court shitshow.

I am deeply concerned that many trans and non-binary people in our country are feeling worried, fearful or uncertain after the ruling, and questioning whether they will be able to enjoy the same rights as their peers.

As Liberal Democrats we are pushing the government to provide clarity - with new legislation if necessary - to ensure that everyone’s rights are protected. This must include ensuring the trans community feels safe.

My colleague Christine Jardine, who is the Liberal Democrat Women and Equalities spokesperson has written to the minister asking for a meeting to discuss this.

Many questions remain about the ruling’s practical implications. This is precisely why we need the government to bring forward clarity and clear practical guidance that ensures everyone’s rights are protected.

We must remember that this situation is not about political hypotheticals, it is about real people who are now worried and uncertain as they go about their day-to-day lives.

The Supreme Court ruling reaffirmed that trans people’s rights must be respected under the law. It is vital that this judgement is not used to further divisive culture wars or to justify rolling back anyone’s rights. Liberal Democrats will do everything we can to ensure this is the case.

Re: Scot tories’ vile post. Extract from my piece in Fierce Salvage, full text of the image in the alt text.
While hate crimes against the entire community continue to rise, the media and ministers tell the nation to fear the victims of hate, not the people purveying it. And when you listen to the callers and contributors to Scots radio shows or read the columnists and commenters on Scots newspaper websites, something becomes clear: if the Section 28 ballot were happening today, too many of our politicians, public figures and peers would be voting to keep it.
